I can't believe this Holland team with these magnificent players could not reach Euro 2000 final, win it and then with the addition of Rud Van Nistelrooy couldn't even qualify for 2002 World cup!!! On Argentine side, one of Passarella's dumbest decisions was not calling Redondo for 1998 World Cup, because of his hair style. I am glad Redondo stood his ground and didn't back down at the cost of losing the World Cup; that is character right there. I am a Holland fan, but Argentinians must be glad Passarella was not in charge of 1978 team; he would have not included Kempes and Luke for their long hairs and there was no way Argentina could have won without Kempes.

Because Holland didn't defend well in the WC 2002 qualifiers, they were leading against both Portugal and Ireland and let them equalize unnecessarily on both occasions, which ultimately cost them. They could've still qualified as second if they drew with Ireland in that infamous game in Dublin but with the atmosphere in the stadium you just knew Ireland were gonna deliver an upset that day. Holland should've finished the job of qualifying much earlier. Fun fact is that at one point in the game vs Ireland, the Dutch had Kluivert, Van Nistelrooij, Van Hooijdonk, and I think Hasselbaink all on the pitch at the same time, four world-class centre-forwards, and they still didn't score.

@@jawadabdullah5555 Had nothing to do with homosexuality. They were just old fashioned people who liked people who dressed good and had proper haircuts. Vicente Del Bosque at the time wanted Guti to cut his hair too. Fergie was also similar with Beckham. It used to be a dress code to have cut hair and be dressed well. Just look up some old videos of the 60-70s people no matter poor/rich were well dressed in public.

I hated pointless friendlies, and thanks to the nations league, they are virtually a thing of the past, only before a major tournament does Holland still play one or two "warm-up" games in preparation for the tournament, and that's pretty much it. Netherlands vs Argentina should only be played at World Cups, where they'll play with full conviction and will to win, fire and passion, friendlies are just half-hearted BS with nothing but pride to play for.
