I lived in Boston in the 80s. Bird (and Magic) elevated the game, and Boston fans were insane! A great era. And, remember, the US Olympic ice hockey team also beat the Soviet team in 1980. Heady times.

I was a Lakers fan. I saw the showtime Lakers in person. Magic was always my childhood hero. I hated Bird with every cell in my body. But I’ve come around. I hated him for a reason. Because he was that good. And yeah he was a Celtic lol!

Yeah, Larry’s youngest brother Eddie also went to Indiana State. He was a pretty good basketball player, but not quite up to his big brother’s level. I’m sure it was frustrating at times (I know this well, being the not-so-athletic younger sister to 2 quite-athletic older sisters)

I'm from Philly, born & raised and saw Bird in his prime at the Philadelphia Spectrum (RIP) as a kid. I hated Larry Bird and the Celtics so much but I knew he could play. He had skills for real. My 1983 76ERS and 1989 Pistons are the only teams to win the NBA Championship, not named Celtics or Lakers.
