The Hollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, formerly known as the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary or Hollongapar Reserve Forest is an isolated protected area of evergreen forest located in Jorhat district of Assam state of India. The sanctuary was officially constituted and renamed in 1997.
The Hollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary contains India's only gibbons - the non human ape - the Western Hoolock Gibbons, and Northeastern India's only nocturnal primate - the Bengal Slow Lori's. It also includes the existence of 5 other primates....with a large number of Butterfly species .
The upper canopy of the forest is dominated by the Hollong tree (Dipterocarpus macrocarpus), while the Nahar (Mesua ferrea) dominates the middle canopy. The lower canopy consists of evergreen shrubs and herbs.

Yes...it is possible but only for 5 to 7 minutes or so. For a long walk...going inside the jungle....you always needs a key man.

If u want to stay, you can stay there. Now the huts are pacca and good then before. And u xan either go for a day trip also and come back to Jorhat. Personal hired cab is required...no shared car or taxi goes inside the jungle.
