Seeing these women in their prime and seeing them now really drives it home - time passes SO fast. Young today, tomorrow older (and hopefully wiser). Our life really is like a flower.

Rebecca, You are sooo right, I've found that the FOUNTAIN of youth starts with the acceptance of the Word of God. He has a lot to say on aging, it begins in the mind the central professing unit for the body. If we can wrap our mind around what our CREATOR says about us, not what we think, read Ps 139, it says it all. I am 72 yes young same as some of the people in this movie today. I still play tennis, jog, walk, golf etc, because I embrace the Word of my Creator. I have the mind of Christ, I hold his thoughts and purposes in my heart.

I saw this on television when it originally aired , it was interesting then and still is . Some Blacks find success and some don't , some want to help and some want to forget , this dynamic is still ongoing . However, it was great to see images of successful Blacks too. Just like she said help from where you are . Thanks for these great films .

I think she was too confused between guilt, memories, and, as the boyfriend said: "wanting more of life." Sometimes it´s too hard to help, but it´s possible to "do" something, and that´s helping indirectly. Maybe that´s fairer for everyone; and it would give her a connection to both worlds she wanted to be in touch with.

I always find it funny that homophobes always mentioned black LGBTQ out of context. That hatred harms you, and not us, brother. Remember that Gay and Lesbian black people(James Baldwin, Bayard Rustin, and Barbara Smith) were fighting for the rights of all black people. The children always forget what their hatred ignores.

Watching this movie for the first time at 35 years young I see this from a different perspective. You really can’t save everyone. Instead of Sweettalk getting his life together he wallowed in pity for himself then tried to blame Hattie for reacting to what he was. She was the first person in a long time to actually show him the truth. Danny had been enabling him for a long time. Hattie was right. Both Danny and Sweettalk were afraid of moving forward. At least Hattie attempted to come back and help unlike Paul and his buddy. In the end Hattie did what she could and still realized she could not go back and also move forward. Sweettalk robbed her and used the money to buy the drugs that killed him. Danny blaming her showed her that he too was stuck just as much as Sweet Talk. I’m glad she made the best decision for her.

Why do the characters with a darker complexion always have to be the mean or negative people in films while the rich and successful characters often have a lighter skin tone? I know y'all are sick of me but a ring on the left hand does not me a marriage license protect you in case the spouse dies it's about how the two of you feel about each other and the respect that the man gives a woman seeing an old friend is fine but he took it one step too far to have something good you need to have an understanding between two people respect and you hold onto each other said she didn't need to throw I believe a beer can she needed to talk to her man and more in-depth than she did just one African-American woman

Anntoinette Boyd I see what you’re saying but it doesn’t matter. Princess and her old boyfriend kiss while they were in a new relationship with other people. If that doesn’t scream ridiculousness then I don’t what is.

Now, you know I gotta get at it! I love these old movies. But Sweet Talk could have been saved. That big ass bulls-eye!! The fire department must have wanted to see a big black splat on the side walk that day. But its a movie right? And we all knew Sweet Talk was that junkie cool guy that never makes it to the end. The real tear jerker and memory of the movie. Love Morgan Freeman.

Sweet Talk was already dead, a walking zombie. His biological death was the end really. He is better off out of his misery.

I love seeing Blacks being portrayed in a different economic bracket instead of always showing Blacks living in the projects. Wow that's the actress that played as Ice Cubes mom and on the Wayans Show. She looks younger now than then!

Everybody can't come to the place where you will or have found peace. It is what it is. People have to want to be helped then also help themselves.

Harriet didn't let nobody help her. She thought she didn't need any help. But she was messed up and couldn't even control her senses.

You can't help the ignorant that don't want to be helped. I am glad she finally it. You can't give people a hand up if you are standing on level ground. You must elevate in order to help elevate others!!! 😁😁😁

Hollow Image. Only tried to help and never succeeded because even with Centers each and every individual must have the desire inside himself/herself to maintain freedom within oneself and remain freed.

Hattie really tried to help but Danny was just to stuck to realize it. It's funny how you do know your mindset is an issue until you're around something different. I found this movie from a Reel on FB first time every seeing it. They could've really made a great couple if Danny listened to her.

I saw this movie when I was a student at NCCCU. My roomate and I had a long conversation about this. The woman who wrote this was black. If you take a careful look at this it is a forebringer of what the 1980s was about.
