Hooboy, this was a tough one. I had to edit this from several clips to be able to show the dialogue and intros as well as a successful completion. What a finale. I really loved this game.

They are actually both bad. They are two sides or the same coin. There's a reason why the Godseeker ending is kind of a bad ending and why the Pale King sealed the Void again. Light, Radiance, is ego, attention, wants to be recognized and envyes when other get more attention. Dark, shadow, the Void, is just raw chaos, evil, wants to destroy its opposite and everything else.

I remember the first time I fought this boss. I went to see what would happen if I beat the Hollow Knight with void heart. Hornet got the Hollow Knight, and I noticed essence coming out of their head. Wondering what it was, I dream nailed it. I just expected dialogue or a charm or an easter egg. I appear in this little arena with a few platforms. I see that I can challenge. I don't know what I'm challenging, all I see is empty sky. I almost pissed myself when I saw the sun grow wings

This whole fight brings out such intense emotions for me. You finally get to Hollow Knight after learning the truth of who you are and what you were made for and becoming united with the void. As the fight goes on, Hollow Knight still remembers their mission and attacks itself to help you. Then Hornet shows up to get you into the the realm of dreams for the final battle; the battle you were made to fight. Then you jump to the platform and finally get to really see what you’re up against, The Radiance. As you continue the fight, the void starts seeping in, showing your progression towards the finale. After dealing enough damage, The Radiance flees high above and you need to do one final climb to reach her, and as you do, all of your siblings are making the climb with you, showing that even on the turf of a literal god, you’re still never alone in your fight. Once you reach the top and do that final attack with your nail, the void and your siblings block out the entire background of the dream and start holding down The Radiance, and even Hollow Knight comes in, finally giving him that closure that they even didn’t fail their mission because they’re there to help *you*. Then once Hollow Knight cracks open her weak spot, you tear away your vessel and get to absolutely *WAIL* on The Radiance, until finally, the entire void drags her in, snuffing out the last light The Radiance will ever let out. Then after that, you see Hornet wake up and see that the mission is over, and you see all the siblings returning back to the void to finally rest, knowing that their mission, what they were all made for, has finally come to an end It’s so rare to find a story like this in literature, let alone a video game, and this is just from the climax of the MAIN story. This is why Hollow Knight is my favorite game of all time. Thank you Team Cherry. Thank you so much for sharing this masterpiece with us all.

6:30 Genuinely one of my favorite boss entrances in history (that I can remember). TL:DR -- everything about 6:43 is epic. This is a dark, bleak world, and the final boss is a giant god-moth that represents all light. You stand up to and challenge the _sun,_ and if that wasn't ridiculous enough, that same sun starts moving to approach you. The very moment when it reveals itself to be a living being, a super-hard orchestra crescendo comes in, and the boss title shows, white with black text, over the entire screen, instead of in a corner -- "THE RADIANCE." Couldn't have been done better.

Ooh I finally understand the fight against the Radiance is a dream battle because the Radiance is sealed within the Hollow Knight and that is also why they are called vessels because they are made specifically to contain the Radiance. It all makes sense now.

Can I just...vent a little bit here? So, I just beat Hollow Knight for the first time. The _first time._ This is the ending I got. I've played over 63 hours of it, and it's my favorite game. And I'm so frustrated. My laptop is just--SO STUPID. All I wanted was to watch the ending cutscene...the last cutscene of the game. That's all I wanted. I had just defeated The Radiance! All I wanted was to watch a one-minute cutscene! But no. My laptop had to _freeze up at the very beginning_ and I only saw the _end_ of it, with the Siblings going back into the ground. That's all I was able to see. I didn't...I didn't see anything else. I didn't even hear the audio. My laptop just froze. And yeah, I am able to watch it here, but...still. I just wanted to watch it, ingame, seeing it as my own achievement. In real time. I didn't want to watch it on KZbin. I just wanted to complete the game and _see the ending._ I'm so frustrated. So, now that I've gotten that out of the way..I'm speechless. I'm going to rant again! I can never get enough of the animation in this game. Everything about it is beautiful. Beautiful and sad. And I love it more than I have the words to describe. This is the first game that has almost made me cry, and that's saying something. Just watching 10:50 made me tear up a little. Every time I dig into some new lore, I'm always shocked. Shocked at how dark, sad, and messed up it is, usually, but sometimes I'm just in awe at the beautiful storytelling and connections in this game. I really do love everything about this game. I love the characters, the lore, the story, the gameplay, the music, the bosses...everything. I don't think I've ever loved a game this much. I don't think I've ever gotten so much time out of such a cheap game. I don't think I've ever cried because of something in a game, but this one almost did it. The Birthplace cutscene, Broken Vessel in its entirety, Quirrel's farewell, the way the Hollow Knight stabs himself...this game has so many truly heartbreaking moments. But those moments help to make the happy ones shine even brighter, feel even warmer. Thinking of Sheo and the Nailsmith, Iselda and Cornifer, Elderbug, Quirrel... _(while he's still alive)_ I don't think I'd be so happy to see those familiar faces if the rest of the game was lighthearted and cheerful. _"Sometimes darkness can show you the light."_

Wolfywoo also canonically speaking it doesnt even exist since godhome is destroyed in the godmaster ending, and to even get the statues you must defeat the radiance, when the radiance is still alive when you go back to godhome. So it doesnt even canonically exist. Chances are a memorial to the knight or a few references to the knight are made in silksong, its not every day that someone destroys a god. Silksong might take place after the true ending rather than the godmaster ending also.

This always makes me get emotional. like the siblings look up and finally seeing that they served their original purpose. Who knows, they're all probably thinking at last all agreeing that they are free and even though mother and father are pieces of shit, they done them proud and proven that they are powerful together than apart. Honestly I like to think that "Knight" looks up, even though everyone else went to rest, awaiting for Radiance to come back or another danger or wanting to learn more about having a gendered sibling (Hornet). Hollow rests its hand on the Knight and actually talks explaining how they are sorry for all the trouble they have caused because they were not "Hollow" enough then praises the knight for assisting them with Radiance. The knight, without looking, nods their head while starring up. "Hollow" expressed how it's okay to feel, to think, and to have will. "Knight" remembers all those who they came to care for die for different situations but all boils down to Radiance. With that realization the "Knight" was hurt but was not sad, more so happy to know that they were the downfall of Radiance and they got their revenge. With that, soul at ease, "Hollow" encouraged "Knight" to rest with everyone and allow them to be reborn with a new chance. Honestly, I'mm happy they were put to rest, I just wish they had a better fate.

10:01 is one of the best villain deaths ever imo. The dramatic death in the Embrace the Void ending was cool but I feel like the quietness of the Radiance disappearing is actually more dramatic considering the context. The Infection happened because she forced herself into the minds of bugs all over Hallownest; She would make herself remembered at all costs. Now, with one final push, her light flickers away. The Radiance is forgotten. I probably take this stuff too seriously. It’s just really cool to me :P

Yes, I would guess it should have slammed into the ground a few times like elsewhere, but somehow didn't register actually hitting the ground so it just keeps tracking me. Never happened again on repeat plays. I was torn about leaving it in there cause it IS the first introduction to the boss, but on the other hand I wanted to make it clear I died the first time and only after changing my charms and trying multiple times did I eventually beat Radiance.

i was hoping in some part of the battle, we got "story only" power up where we losing the battle but then got power up and become adult like the hollow knight then continue to the final phase of the battle, that would be so badass!!!

Interesting how the knight’s shade goes from being an enemy the knight has to fight and kill every time they die to the actual thing that killed the Radiance when the knight willingly broke their shell to release it

you hear the radiance scream a few times through the whole game, but man when i heard it come from the hollow knight on the first playthrough it just really hit differently

Here’s a fact: Now that the radiance has been defeated, the plague, or the infection will finally stop. And the bugs that have been turned into husks (or those who have orange a eyes and such) will go back to normal, not remembering a thing when they where infected. So that means.. those who killed myla should be shamed, because if you didn’t kill her even if she was infected and hostile, she’ll go back to normal, and will also still remember you before she was infected

After realizing how the Radiance is the source of the plague and the majority of the horror and tragedy you experience throughout the game, it made the Knight and Hollow Knight's shades beating the everything fuck out of it and dragging it screaming down to the voice(hell) all the more incredibly satisfying and cathartic.

I love Radiance's boss fight so much. Though, I have an opinion most people won't really agree with. I honestly feel a little bad fighting her. Now, I will NEVER condone her actions that involve the Infection, but I can understand why she became so enraged. I mean, imagine living peacefully in your kingdom with your tribe and some random wyrm steals it away from you. I can also understand where the wyrmwas coming from and have my own opinions on him, but he's not our main focus. Knowing her lore, I can't help but pity her a small bit while fighting her. A lot of characters in this game are tragic, and Radiance is no exception. Maybe I just like villains? But it was satisfying to finally beat her and end the Infection once and for all. I also like to think that Radiance didn't actually die, and was just dragged into the void to serve her punishment. Same feelings in "Embraces the Void". But yeah, that's it. Thank you to whoever took the time to read all of this. :)

Yeah, but you have to understand, compared to radiance the pale king was a GOOD GUY, like this menace turned the whole kingdom into a hive and essentially enslaved everyone, so when pale king rolled up there was an obvious winner of who to follow

Based on my understanding The Void is not the one who started the corruption or infection in hollownest but IT was trying to stop it, Stoping the Radiance and ending the infection is the goal of Void

A bug that is not able to think would never want to have free will at first place. Would you desire something you have never experienced or observed? Free will is just that delicious dessert you have tasted and wanting it more. And radiance has created them, he is THE god. Pale king is literally a terrorist/satan that fooled them with a stimulant drug (via the void, which is complete evil being) and stole your throne away from you. And why would you go against your god if you have known it existed. You wanting to have free will is only your human desire.
