May I offer a small correction? Dying during a Steel Soul run doesn't actually erase your save file, it's actually even worse than that. If you fail a Steel Soul run by dying, the save file becomes inert and useless. In other words; your save file dies. And you have to manually erase it, effectively giving your failed run a burial, if you wish to ever use that slot again. It's a walk of shame, and I think that was a hilarious idea by Team Cherry.
@TonyEtown4205 жыл бұрын
LOL, yeahhh I realized that when I died on my first Steel Soul run. I had always heard that (prolly from watching this video) "THE SAVE FILE GETS ERASED"...but I was HEARTBROKEN when I realized the save file STAYS, showing a Shattered Mask forcing you to *erase the save file yourself*....Seeing the save file there kept me hoping like I could find a way to restore it, even though I KNEW there WASN'T.... I bought Hollow Knight completely blind. Just saw it was on sale on Switch and said "Metroidvania" in the description and I decided to give it a try. This has been the first time since I was a child that I had this feeling of overwhelming excitement for the unknown in a video game. It was an even greater experience than Mario Odyssee or Breath of the Wild because I had no idea what I was in for. Every step was simultaneously enchanting and terrifying. I got Goosebumps every time the environment changed. I just couldn't put it away and though I poured hours and hours into it I was still unable to find every secret and I'm sure I still only know half of what Hollow Knight has to offer. This childlike wonder I experienced for the first time in Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. I didn't think I could get there again.

After ~200 hours of playing the game, I feel like this game has turned me into a completionist LMAO. Before playing Hollow Knight, whenever I would play games, I would just play them in any way I though fun or satisfying, however, with Hollow Knight, I've gotten the drive to do everything. The only achivements I haven't gotten are Speedrun 1-2 and Pantheon of Hallownest. Hell, I beat steel Heart purely on accident, and I got speed completion, again, on accident, in the same save file. Even if there's no achivement for it, I even beat the Path of Pain. There's just something about this game that makes you want to do it all. Makes you enticed to keep playing again and again, and every playthrough feels so satisfying, and it's because you never do it the exact same way, and I love it.
