Eric Goldschmidt is a Glass Programs Supervisor for the Corning Museum of Glass and studied under Cesare Toffolo among others. Is this Boro or Soda Lime glass? I'm presuming Boro, but I just saw some glass making at Murano with what appears to be soft glass.

Fantastic. Loved how he uses a darker color so the temp of the glass is easily visible

Just been binging different glass making videos. Whats the reason behind sometimes you spin the ends in opposite directions. Like with the boro holo on one end and the point on the other. After heating you take off the flame and rotate opposite directions, why is that? Thanks.

"Nobody pulls perfectly straight points. They always need to be recentered." Best line of advice in this great video. The guy seems to be a hell of a teacher, but this is the best thing I need to be reminded of as a long time glass blower that likes to spin out nice perfect circles like this.

Basically the danger for eyes drops off exponentially with distance so peeps in the background are safe so long as glass doesn't go flying. Shades for observers standing a bit away is really just so they can see through the flare.
