The stunt where the stunt double for Grace went onto the bonnet, over the windscreen and roof, before falling off, should have been shown as one frame, as it was it was so fragmented the impressiveness of the stunt was lost, since it looked like a dummy was used, and two separate shots combined to create the moment.

@@danielr02 What do you mean? With a moving car, and the stunt double perfectly rolling over the bonnet, windscreen, and roof of the car; with so much movement and drama in the frame you don't need anything else. Add additional angles to that, and you end up confusing people, cause too much is happening in a succession of frames too quick for the viewers to take in what they are watching. When shooting a scene like this the focus either have to be on the people inside the car, and how they experience running down someone - or on the person being run over. If you show both at the same time, the frames either will be too quick and short - and just confuse the viewers - or the scene will feel arificially long and drawn out. Cause there are certain elements which have to be included for the scene to work dramatically. If showing the scene from Grace's point of view, you would first need a close up of Grace's face when she is relaxed, and doesn't know what soon will happen, to connect and create a bond between the viewers and Grace. A scene that explains why the car came out of course and crashed. A frame showing the car just like Grace would have seen it coming towards her immediately before the crash. Close up of Grace's shocked face, and then the stunt. And when it is as perfect as we saw it here, you show it in full frame, a little bit up speed for additional drama - and with the right sound effects to make a perfectly executed stunt sound like a dreadful accident. The pacing is less important than conveying the story and the emotions, cause those are what the viewers connect to. I would have waited with the frames from inside the car until after they had learned it was Grace who had been hit, and included the frames from inside the car as flashbacks.

@@danielr02 As far as I am concerned this is/was a scene where a character were run down by two other characters, I don`t know who directed the scene, whether it was a second unit, or the director of the episode, but I am sorry, I don`t think it was a well made stunt scene. Just like the crash involving Misbah and her family, plus Harry Thompson, it was too long and changing perspective too often to convey the impact and the after effect realistically. I think would have been both more shocking, and connected better with audiences - certainly among those of us who have been passengers in cars crashing - if the scene had been shorter and more precise - either focusing on those inside the car, or on Grace who was run down. Too much were made to happen inside the car before it hit Grace, making viewers - at least this viewer - both wondering why the car didn`t break, or why it continued to go through the barriers, when it easily could have turned out into the street again. It is one thing to have people freeze, that happens. But when so much was going on inside that car, it is odd that non of the two either hit the breaks, shouted break, or turned the car back into the street. They were in a car they had "borrowed" and planned to return afterwards, so to reduce the damages on it to a minimum would have been wise. In the pre-mentioned crash involving Misbah and her family, they - for some weird reason - moved from side to side while the car was meant to spin around, while what would have happened was that they would have been forced one way, until the car stopped, when they either would have continued moving in the same direction (if the car stopped by itself) or been forced in the opposite direction, had the car hit something and been thrown back the other way. The best way to put together a stunt scene, is to start with the actual stunt, or as much of it as can be included (stunts don`t always work out 100% as planned), and add the before and after bits after the actual frame of the stunt - or as much of it can be used - is in the can. For cost and security reasons, stunts usually can only be shot once. But the key to make a stunt convincing, is how you are able to sell the scene to the viewers. Say you have a car that is going to explode in a public street. Today that would have done with CGI, but in the early-mid nineties that was not possible. Than such scenes had to be faked, cause there were restrictions on how big an explosion could be in a public spot - even with a closed set. So what was done was that a little "explosion" (sometimes just a few lamps in red, yellow and orange blinking inside of the car, illustrating the explosion being set off) were filmed in the actual location, while the actual car exploding was filmed on an open space somewhere (not seldom a former airfield or a training drive course borrowed from the military), and when edited immediately after the footage of the blinking lamps, the footage of the actual explosion being shot on the open location, and filmed with zoom, looked like it was shot in the same street as the blinking lamps frames - and put together they looked like the car exploding on the actual street, because the zoom shot focused so much on the car itself, that when you added the actual explosion shot, it appeared as the the surroundings were covered in smoke and flames, while the model and mark of the car could clearly be identified to be identical to the car the viewers had seen in the actual street. It is a little bit more difficult if the car is meant to be driving, cause then you have to attach a long wire to the car, and have it pulled by a vehicle driving in a 90 degrees angle away from it, so the burning wreckage doesn`t collide with the truck pulling it after the remote activated explosion, but continues in a straight line after the pulling truck has stopped, where the the fire officers will put out the fire. But otherwise the set up is the same, lamps that can be activated - making it appear the explosion is being set off - while cast members are still inside the car; making it appear they were in the car while the explosion were set off, after the two pieces of footage have been edited together. To make the frames perfect, you first have to find the angle you think is the best one to shoot the car explosion from on the location, and film the scene involving the lamps there - with the car being driven as normal with the cast members involved inside it. After you have done that, you replicate that angle and distance of the camera, plus the setting of the zoom, so the frames will be as similar as possible, on the open location where the EMPTY car will be filmed exploding - and then you edit the two frames together, and it will look on screen as the car is exploding in the actual public street, cause the rapid change from the blinking lights to the full explosion with smoke and flames will make the whole explosion scene appear as one single frame after the sound editors have done their work. How the FX specialists do the explosion usually involves petrol and petrol fumes, and remote operated electric ignition of the fumes, setting off the explosion. Even the car lighter can be used, provided the car has been sealed sufficiently for the petrol fumes to stay on the inside of the car. If not properly sealed in, the flames could continue outside of the car, rather than cause an impressive explosion, and could also set off additional fires, or harm people on what was thought to be a safe distance. But the FX people know what they are doing - and there are also fire officers on the scene for big stunts like this - so the danger with these type of stunts not involving people directly are minimal.
