Different. There is no such thing as different. Conformity is an artificial role people play. EVERYONE is different. Some people are stupid - other geniuses. Some people are into sport - others can sing amazingly or draw perfectly. Some even all three. Some are cowards - others brave. Which is a good thing. Cause thanks to the brave people everything from cars, to flying and reaching even outer space have been made available to us as a species - and thanks to the more cowardly people there are rules and equipment that reduce the risk of such activities. There is no such thing as an ideal human being. We have stronger and weaker sides all of us. But as long as we accept and respect each other as equals we will have the chance, through positive interaction and cooperation, to harvest the best from each other - both in regard to behavior and attitude, as well as skills and resources - and making the world a better place. Racism, homophobia and all other types of discrimination and perceived stereotypes are stupid, and a result of certain people`s fear of not being good enough compared to the rest, and therefore to need someone to place beneath them and look down on, so they themselves can feel to be better. But it isn`t true. It is a lie they tell themselves, either because they have been brought up to believe that is how it is, or because they have actively looked for someone to think of as lesser than themselves, in order to feel good about themselves. By right we should have pitied them. But because their stupidity is so harmful both to individuals and society - even the world - as a whole, we instead are forced point out how destructive and unfair their behavior and attitudes are. Religious faiths can be a wonderful thing - if applied as a tool for one`s own behavior and living. But can be destructive to the point of dangerous if used as weapon against, or to control, others. Every human being is born with a free will. To try to control or influence that free will by limiting options or apply force or violence therefore is wrong - and should have been considered a crime against humanity. Likewise to regard certain ethnic groups to be below others, should be the same. This because both religious doctrine they don`t decide to follow themselves of their own free will, but which have been enforced upon them, and racially based prejudices causes people emotional and practical difficulties in their daily lives. And instead of uniting us together, allowing us to interact in peace and harmony and harvest each others skills, experiences, talents and more and together making the world a better place, such negatives divide us and makes us unnecessary hostile towards each other. Something which again becomes a threat to progress as well as peace and harmony, since the danger we instead of cooperating with solving the major problems on this planet and it`s many societies, we will create more problems through conflicts and wars - delaying the much needed necessity of cooperation. Just imagine if the two scientists most significant to discover a cure for cancer was a jew and a muslim, but because of the religious and political conflict between the religions the two of them never met, or had the opportunity to share their findings - and instead millions continued to die of cancer in the decades or centuries to come? And with challenges from the possibility of pandemics as a result either of bacteria becoming immune to antibiotics, or mutations emerging as a result of species relocating to areas they haven`t been before. And as a result the bacteria they brought with them could form mutations with other bacteria in the, for them, new area - and that again would cause human kind to be faced with a mutation which either was harmful to us directly, or threatened the animals or plants we need as food. To the many other challenges, from increases in extreme weather and fires, sea level rising and danger of both food and water shortages in certain parts of the world. All of this as a result of global warming and climate change. With these extremes as our most likely future we, as a world, will have to unite for survival. And therefore all other forms of conflicts or issues, from religious disagreements to historically based conflicts and inherited feelings of animosity is stupidity we don`t have time to waste on now. Not only wars and violent conflicts, prejudices and more, but Issues like, say Brexit, is as stupid to waste time on now, as to discuss on board a ship what color of paint the gully should have, instead of running to the pumps, when the ship takes in water. We need to focus all our attention and resources on one question and problem - how to survive on a planet where conditions are changing as rapidly and forcefully as now. To achieve that we need to be able to trust and like each other across all types of invisible borders, whether religious, racial, political or other types. And the only way to do that is to recognize the fact that we are all different, but yet of equal value and equally deserving to be accepted and respected for who we are, what we believe in and how we live our lives.

@@livolivia1292 Why are you so threatened by it? Do you have PTSD as a result of a previous traumatic encounter with a long reply? And think I perhaps should have started it off with a warning: LONG REPLY, PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS ADVISED? Or do you just lack the energy and ability to concentrate for as long as it would take you to read the full reply? I am wondering about this, because, if you had read it, it would be fairly obvious why it was so long. But if I have to answer, the reason is because it is a reflection, and not a reaction. I started off questioning the validity of the idea of different being real, or just an illusion as a result of conformity being a role people play. Then I addressed why many people feel the need to look down on others to feel better about themselves, and linked this again to why this is harmful not only for the individuals given the label different, but to society and the world as a whole. The latter since it creates division, prejudices, animosity and conflicts, which again both waste time we need to solve the real problems of the world - how to survive in the future when global warming and climate change threatens not only ourselves but the food we eat - and make cooperation between groups either hostile or wary of each other so difficult, necessary agreements and discoveries could not come to be made as a result. But if I am honest, I believe the real reason you absolutely needed to say something was that something I wrote hit a little too close to home to both yourselves, as well as the other person who replied, and it therefore became important to discredit what I had written in any way you could. And since it was too difficult for you to challenge the conclusions in themselves, you opted to attack the length of the reply instead.
