When it was announced that HOLLYOAKS was changing and a lot of the cast leaving with some staying, I was intrigued. The time period between the announcement and the time jump had me more invested in the show. Yes, HOLLYOAKS. It ain’t Shakespeare. But the stories were tighter, better written and acting spot on. Even wardrobe ended it Crayola Crayon Colorcoding for characters. The Frankie/JJ story was heartbreaking. The mob component was great. Didn’t like the rewrite of history with granny/real dad story but I’d let it pass.

But now, I’m not sure the right characters were kept and the wrong ones sent away. James is a perfect example. That character should have been kept as the chemistry between Sty and Rex isn’t all that great. The “new crime boss” isn’t all that scary other than loud. The true ending to Frankie & JJ’s story was a shame. And Darren’s disappearance once again makes no sense.

Show seems back to the ridiculous. Such as WHY IS GRACE BLACK living on a boat in the middle of town AND THE SHOW HASNT MADE IT LOOK like a home? It still looks like an abandoned shop. The murder mystery was unnecessary. The 3 sisters, friend and new dad along with kids all living in same flat is a crowded house. I was hoping at least sets would have been updated. Not sure I’ll stick around even though ratings show a lot of folk like it
