As Ryan Reynolds pointed out, much respect has to be given to Notts County. This season they’ll likely surpass/equal the previous National League records for wins, fewest losses, points, goals, and goal differential. It’s likely that they’d be seen as having the greatest season of any side in the history of the National League…aside from the Wrexham club that they’re looking up at in the table. That they’ve had such an incredible season and will likely have to sweat their way through playoffs to win promotion, where one off day can cancel out the results of 46 amazing match days, is ridiculous. The Championship has two automatic promotions and 1 playoff promotion, League One the same, while League Two Has THREE automatic and 1 playoff promotion. At the very least, the National League deserves two automatic promotions.

To be fair. The training, nutrition, coaching standards and some of the pitches/stadiums in the National League today are on a par with the Championship of 25 years ago. The key difference is the quality of the defending. Some of the players on display here could play in League 1 no problem. Wrexham should now be promoted and will almost certainly gain promotion next year too.

It happened last year. Wrexham was 2nd last year and lost to the 6th place team that was 11 points below them in the playoffs. That 6th place team ended up winning the playoffs and getting promoted to the 4th division.

Wrexham beat 14 men out there. Clearly denied a penalty in the first half, was at least 5 offsides called that were a good yard on side and that penalty at the end was extremely harsh. The officials should be looked at, thankfully Wrexham got the result, but had it gone the other way it would of been a real stain on the match and the league.

We'll see how things go, but Bournemouth went from League 2 to the PL in 6 years, so it is possible and they are a similarly sized club to Wrexham. Of course, it helped Bournemouth that they had a top tier manager in Eddie Howe. Getting the right manager will be Wrexham's biggest hurdle.
