As someone who has addiction experience, not being able to get more substances, waiting on a dealer all day, actually helps people quit. Having an endless flow of money, a dealer everywhere *instantly* it’s not a surprise we lose so many celebrities.
@misstekhead3 ай бұрын
Very true. Waiting on your dealer for several hours to the point where you lose your job is pure misery and an exercise in outright embarrassment. There are no rules as far as customer service goes in an illegal drug market. Not to mention getting ripped off because the product’s underweight, overly cut, or outright bunk. I remember chasing a guy who took my money and literally ran. I chased him into a restaurant, out the back door, into rush hour traffic, ran after him inside of a busy bar where I lost track of him. I was so pissed I put the word out on the street about the guy and was willing to pay or buy anyone what they needed for information on him. I was a skinny, young woman willing to kill the guy. That’s how messed up addiction is. He reportedly was never seen again. Maybe he pulled that move again and finally got his comeuppance.

I’m an addict to opiates, meth, and booze. Sober 6 years now. One of the biggest roots of addiction is child abuse/sa or trauma. Every other addict I knew had a trauma that happened they didn’t know how to cope with. And then when you’re in your addiction you are an easy target for further abuse or trauma which just fuels the need to cope or numb. It alters your brain chemistry and messes with your way of thinking and seeing things, making it harder to see a way out. I’m lucky i got out with my life, saw people overdose and lost friends and family.

Addicts get treated like monsters & jokes when they are so, so ill.
@holcrav48803 ай бұрын
@@renegadetherapper I’m a drug addict. In the past few years I got close to someone who is an alcoholic. Wow. I don’t wish that on my worst enemy. I didn’t know that their blood has a certain percentage of alcohol in it. It gets used to that amount and then needs that amount to stay alive. Anyone who can make it out from under that monkey on their back is a true superhero. To me anyway. Makes what I’m dealing with seem like a damn birthday party… during the time that I have known this guy my niece got in trouble for Percs, went to jail, then prison, then a year and a half of drug court. THEN she started drinking. She went from zero to acute chronic pancreatitis in 2 years. TWO YEARS! She drank that 99 bananas . I don’t drink but someone told me it’s much higher proof than just whiskey. The doctor told her that if she ever drinks again she will die. So she switched out addictions and is now on meth ruining her life. But at least she still has a life to ruin I guess. Smh. I went to jail too and 16 mos of drug court which came with intense probation supervision where I’m from. I thought I learned a lot of good coping skills etc. was clean for 5 years. But one day it felt like a freight train hit me out of nowhere and before I knew it I had made the call and got a bag delivered to me at work. All that before I really even realized what I had done and the 5 years of sobriety I had wasted. Only after that did I find out I had been triggered. I had heard the word before but that’s it. You would think someone would have spent a little time teaching us about triggers in 2 hour sessions four times a week for a year and a half of counseling and MRT…nope. Had I known to watch out for my specific triggers I really believe I could have avoided that (now 8 year) setback..

You forgot one addiction. Ive read so many stories, of regular people and of celebs, that "get happy and healthy", by going to rehab and starting a ..... weight loss journey. Oh. I called out a local newspaper article for quoting the person, "Ive lost 70 kgs but I will loose the rest too!" - what rest??? She was perfectly within a so called healthy range. Why do we praise being under that? If you still see weight to loose, talk to someone!!! When you see celebs going from "I do drink and smoke when recording an album" to looking like a camp survivor - this is clearly moving their addiction over to something that GETS PRAISED. Over-exercise gives a high, as all self harm. And again, the comfort and company of "club life" gets replaced by "gym life", BUT YOU ADD PRAISE. More photos, more attention, this must be good, right? Im hiding my pain on the threadmill. I bet you they overeat to combat the starvation diets they go on. And oh boy that's a high as well. Way too many gastric bypass victims, I mean, patients, start drinking when their over-eating isnt possible. Wow so thin and happy you look now!!! Great success! WE ALL NEED TO LOOK LIKE THIS SO WE ALL CAN BE ADDICTS TOGETHER AND BE HAPPY AND PRETTY.

Whether willingly open. Or openly caught. Well said. It’s sad to think of anyone in addiction. People who survive whilst still actively in addiction are lucky to survive. However there’s a notion that they have ‘got away’ with it. So there is usually a next time. Two hugely famous and successful actors come to my mind. Robin Williams who bravely overcame his addiction but sadly died of a different disease. However he worked the AA programme which at least gave him some time. Anthony Hopkins has been sober for decades now. He too works the twelve steps. He openly talks about this to support other alcoholics. Overall I think that the pressures associated with fame plus the availability of their weapons of choice makes individuals vulnerable. Thanks for this content.

Sometimes the people we love that cannot overcome their addictions we ask God to just take them.

Judy Garland did not die alone, she was with Mickey Deans. She got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and he found her dead the next morning.

Come on now- Marilyn did Not "take too much." That's why there were no capsules in her stomach. They gave the sedatives to her rectally.

I couldn't get over the fact that writer Dorothy Killgallen was going to go public with facts she said she had about Marilyn Monroe, and she was found dead of an overdose. She had been on "What's My Line?" the night before and was not suicidal.

Drug addiction killed my moms mom, my ex husband, many friends and people i went to school with. My mom died of cancer 5weeks ago but also struggled with addiction up until the day she died. We didnt know, until we found things going through her belongings after she died. Now im stuck with so many un answered questions. Praying for everyone who is still sick n suffering in active addiction.

It must be very hard to deal with when you lost so many friends & family to addiction 😢 especially your Mother, you didn't know she was addicted, people can hide this secret very good.. Out of guilt & shame? Hope you can get some answers about your mom, so you find some peace and move on with your live. And make sure you don't fall into addiction to take away the pain. Big hug for you from Belgium... grtz from sofie

Excuse me, but Robyn DID NOT introduce Whitney to drugs. If anything she tried to help her! Whitney Houston's brothers were her own sit down haters! They introduced her to drugs! 💯💯💯💯

Very well done docu Its not just the celebs that get swept up in the ‘culture’. Production, backstage, tech, all of it is a swirling pool of got to stay away, got to go to that meet & greet, got to be up early and work late, after hours party, the networking and more networking Got to stay young and hip, otherwise no jobs It goes deep and not too many exits to get off that ride

Drugs are everywhere. They don’t discriminate. Where I live I’ve run into a lot of people who do drugs. People with $$$. People with little money and important people.

If someone goes to become wealthy they probably wanted to help people set out with a good intention, good intention paved the way and loneliness leads to drugs and drinking, mentorships can help prevent bad things from happening

Daaaaaamn! If looks could kill (RDJ to interviewer)! 😤

This interview was a press stop for a film…that “look” was a clear conversation for the “journalist” to get back on subject. You’ll notice he also looks directly at the producer as a final warning. Not a fan of celebrity, but RDJ wins that one.
