Little did he know greater success would come for him hosting the ABC shows AFV (2001-2015) and DWTS (2005-2019).
@marcpower4167Ай бұрын
He damn near got The Price is Right after Bob Barker retired, Fremantle pushed hard to get him, but ultimately they couldn't reach a deal on scheduling, Tom was too busy already having DWTS & AFV on his plate. They even offered to move tapings to New York to accommodate him but he didn't want everyone to have to move on account of him.

After this final episode aired So over the entire 38-year run of the show the entire 23 seasons and 5,171 episodes, how many celebrities appeared in the show, how many contestants played, how much money in cash and prizes was won and how many crew members were working on the show in the entire 38-years run all together?
@MatthewTheMattam11 ай бұрын
All you really need to do is multiply 5,171 by 9 and you almost have the right number, save for episodes with more than 9 celebs. It did happen occasionally.

As all the staff members & celebrities gather with Tom, he signs off with, "These are the people who brought you Hollywood Squares. From all of us to all of you, all the best. It's a wrap, goodbye, everybody!"

This is a June 4, 2004 episode in season six of "Hollywood Squares" with Tom Bergeron. It's not only the last day of Staff Appreciation Week, but also the show's series finale episode. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

There were a lot of bridges burned between Whoopi and King World. I doubt if she would've wanted to come back for the finale.

@@devares2006 oh did that contribute to her leaving?
@devares20062 жыл бұрын
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit yeah. They used her because they thought that since she was friends with a lot of A-list celebrities, she would invite them to come on the show and she didn't. Watch the E! True Hollywood Stories on Hollywood Squares. It'll give you a better insight on it.

Unfortunate it didn't ran any longer, especially when the H² era had its prize budget slashed for the final season. Could've been a viable afternoon replacement for Donny Osmond's Pyramid (which also got cancelled by this point) that aired alongside Richard Karn's Family Feud in some markets.
@MrWildcat2009Ай бұрын
Ratings were tanking for quite some time. They were on contract til 2004 otherwise it would’ve been canceled sooner.

An interesting way of saying to viewers “this is the last show” without actually saying it was their last show. Could’ve been executed a little better.

A bunch of nobody "squares". The REAL HS ended on 6/20/80.
@marcpower4167Ай бұрын
That was a problem that really plagued this era, they had trouble getting big name stars, When Whoopi was there they were hoping she could use her connections and relationships to get big names, but that didn't go as well as they hoped. A-list stars kinda look down on game shows. Hopefully that trend will change now with bigger names like Alec Baldwin, Elizabeth Banks, Steve Harvey & Drew Carey having successful runs as hosts and speaking positively about the experience.
@MrWildcat2009Ай бұрын
@@marcpower4167with the amount of money they spent on this show they were expecting huge stars and huge ratings in return but unfortunately didn’t work out and that’s why this version ultimately failed. The biggest mistake made here was extending the show thru 2004 when you had no idea what to expect.
