This isn't any joke. We had a high pressure machine that ran at 10,000 psi and removed the scale from cast iron in our foundry. A pin hole broke through a 2" hose and hit an electrical box. It cut through the 16 gauge steel and immolated the controller and wires inside. It looked like a laser had been fired at it because it was such a clean cut. Had a person been standing next to it....

Here's a story for you: When I got a job as instruments' tech I was told that some guy was working on a hydraulic power skid. Now it was only rated at 3000 psi with accumulators and all that, so he had the bright idea to loosen a fitting while the system is pressurized in order to "Depressurize" it to make it safe for work. You already know what happens next with these kind of skids; the tubing went flying through his thigh. The injury was treated but he died two weeks later after the incident due to hydraulic oil poisoning. It was a human error but this just show that accidents and bad practices with this much pressure or more are lethal.

@@1379andre no it will not. But you should be carefull if you have open wounds when working with it, so i would reccomend cloved because getting it into your bloodstream can be really dangerous.

I was using a skid steer and heard a loud pop and hiss with what felt like someone jamming a nail in my thigh. I for sure thought I had just popped a hydraulic line that caused an injection injury on my leg. I ran inside, pulled my pants down and was looking for an entry point which I couldn't find. Called my supe over and we went to go look at the skid steer. Turns out that the in cab fire extinguisher by my leg went off and shot right into my leg. We all had a laugh and I felt downright dumb but for those few seconds after it happened was scary as fuuuu. I've personally seen what an injection injury can do to a limb and it's not pretty.

Worked hydraulics for a few years. From the beginning, I was acutely aware of the cutting danger of high pressure fluids, but no one ever talked about injection and somehow I just never thought about it. Workplace was safe af and no one ever got hurt beyond cuts, scrapes, and sprains. Working at a different place now, and here because a young man sliced I swear at least half of his palm off with a pressure washer. We pressure washed stuff all the time at the first place but never had the water pressure higher than "very unpleasant stinging sensation" and yet we cleaned things very well with that.

Here's one to watch out for on drilling locations in winter when steam is being used to heat tanks: watch out for substitution of water hoses for steam hoses. Sometimes, whoever's in charge, if they are out of steam hose, will use water hose instead.

I work with diesel. I know of only one person to have atomized calibration fluid into their finger at 1600 bar. He didn't tell anyone because he'd only just got over having his skin burned off his hand from hot wax for nozzle dipping and felt embarrassed. He had three tiny holes in his finger. Woke up in the middle of the night with his arm in agony and white as a sheet (and he's black!). He had to be put on a drip for three days. Good times.

10,500bar! Longwall hydraulics run at about 350bar working pressure, 410bar high set for leg cylinders and up over 500bar if leg cylinders yield. Huge volume of fluid too

I used to work assembling rescue tools for fire departments. Jaws of life type spreaders, cutters...rams. Anyway, they ran at 10,500 psi and man, that will do a lot of damage to the human body. We had a guy have one of the hoses spring a tiny little leak and get him in the hand and he was in the hospital for a while. They had to cut him open and irrigate the oil out .

Yea necrosis is dead and rotting tissue thats still attached like zombie type of stuff.. ive seen it on people who use that crocodil drug.. starts rotting their skin away.. some you wonder how the hell theyre still alive and be walking into the er with half a head and eyeball falling out with tongue lapped over out of where the cheek used to be.. necrosis isnt what kills, its the infection that comes with having an open would.. the hydraulic fluid will cause your heart to fibrillate abnormally once it gets in the blood stream and will get to the heart rather quickly. What the poisoning thing theyre talking about are the chemicals in the hydraulic fluid that will leech out into your organs and shut them down causing failure and death soon after.. most hydraulic injections enter into fatty regions of the body which will just cause a skin reaction if not removed which leads to infection. Only if the fluid hits an artery will it possibly get taken into the blood stream kinda like how a syphon works. But again if its a high enough pressure to break the skin then its usually really high pressure applications so generally will continue through the body.. but if hits a bone and diverts a bit of it then you got issues, especially if it gets in the marrow.. quick and painful death….
