Hey nice Vid! :)

I notice a lot of the sugar beet harvests are done when the fields are wet...is this preferable for lifting the beets or is this just coincidence?...very nice informative camera angles...great job...cheers from Ontario Canada
@dimduk9 жыл бұрын
+tooez90 They harvest them when the soil temp hits 58 degrees because that's when they stop making sugar and start to rot. Wet is just a coincidence of that time of year.

Does it do damage to the sugarbeets in the pile when the tractor drivers slam the trailer into them when unloading? Seems pretty extreme.
@NoTargeT699 жыл бұрын
+Copernicus27 It doesn't really matter, as they are brought to the processing plant (sugar factory) straight away (because sugar levels in the beet drop quickly after harvesting, so there is no long term storage), and the first step in the sugar making process is washing and shredding the beets to thin strips anyway, reducing them to pulp.
@jbmbanter9 жыл бұрын
Questions? Does the harvester cause heavy soil compaction? What are the beets used for? Do you have to pressure wash the head daily to prevent clogs from wet dirt?
@Tractorspotter9 жыл бұрын
+jbmbanter The gross weight of the harvester is approximately 49t with a 30t capacity tank, the weight is spread between six massive flotation tyres. So there is some soil compaction taking place, but not that much… The header is cleaned a couple of times a day by hand with a spade or shovel, but pressure washed thoroughly only when the season is finished. The beets are used for producing sugar.
@jbmbanter9 жыл бұрын
***** Being from over here in Georgia, USA. I am always intrigued by the tractors and equipment that you use. I'm always happy to see a big green tractor but I love to see the Fendt, and others. So I am curious as to what the purpose of crab steering is while beet harvesting?
@oitzharveyxd32278 жыл бұрын
Ensemble_ 96 because the machine is so heavy empty and beets are a heavy crop it allows them to distribute the weight. also beets are harvested in cold, damp wet weather as you can see in the video. so when its half full going over the same track 6 times would either get stuck or something. it would also cock up the field, it will dry im the summer very un even
@oitzharveyxd32278 жыл бұрын

@justacomment15088 жыл бұрын
why doesn't it drive in a straight line ?
@ThatRoadrunner8 жыл бұрын
The drifting mechanism, allowing this machine to drive at an angle like it does, removes the need for all wheels to cross over the same terrain/track in order to harvest in a straight line. This reduces soil compaction. So as the machine is quite heavy, this mechanism actually ensures that it's less likely to get stuck in deep mud, or cause deep tracks.
