I appreciate that you demonstrate how to balance a rig without using corner scales. It's the easiest way to save your money for more weight modifications and Holmes Hobbies parts.

The main reason for having the COG a bit forward is to prevent the truck from doing a back-flip when going up a steep slope. It also helps steering (when going up hill). On my scale crawler the entire front axle is made of brass, so somewhere north of 800g excluding the wheels. That helps, since the total weight of the truck is fairly high. With the COG (even) further forward the trick when going downhill is to drive in reverse.

I love the run time of this video. 😂 Your method here reminds me of weighing stuff with triple beams in school, classic.

As a silly racer, I have those corner balancing scales. I am on my 2nd set now and it is a semi secret weapon I use 😊 and for my crawlers it has been oh so useful. 👍🏼

Corner scales are your friend, lol! Great little video, enjoying this series explaining the basics of why we do what we do 👍 We forget sometimes that new people just don't have a grasp of these concepts. Keep it up!

Another thing people fail to do is reducing weight high up… chuck those huge 5000mah batteries (and their tray) out the window and use shorty packs up front. You’ll lose hundreds of unsprung grams and improve your front weight bias a ton

@3:13 is there a lot of "toe in" or is it just the perspective?

Been trying to figure this out on my FMS - FCX24 K5 Blazer 1/24 scale crawler. The problem is, there is no other place possible to place the battery. I have the exact same problem with four other rigs. What else can be done to balance out my 5 different crawler rigs?
