Holocaust Survivor Talk: Sally Frishberg

Sally Frishberg was born in Urzejowice, Poland in 1934. During the war, at just eight years old, she and her family went into hiding. Initially hiding in fields, they ultimately were taken in by a Polish Catholic farmer who hid all fifteen of them until the end of the war. In 1945 she left Poland and arrived in the United States two years later.

Mrs. Frishberg taught me typing at Fort Hamilton High School but I had no idea of her story. I'm so happy she shared it. This both warmed and broke my heart. I'm forever grateful for Mrs. Frishberg's patience with my clumsy fingers because I eventually learned to type pretty well and became a writer.

I was honored to have her as my teacher in high school. The first day of class she told her story. The whole class was in tears. It was something that I will never forget. Much love to her and her resilience.

I took a holocaust class at Fort Hamilton HS and she came in to the class to share her story. She shared a documentary and taught us so much. I feel so priviledged to have had her as a teacher.

Poland had ethnic Germans in it. The Poles tried to resist. People do not like it but the leader of Italy did not turn people over. They saw what happened in Poland with direct confrontation.
