I love that you are preserving these stories. This one was particularly shocking. I always think of WWII as history but this woman is almost the age of my father. I was equally shocked when I discovered that Anne Frank was the same age as my father-in-law. The history is not as far removed from us as we like to think

They are preserving history. For historical accuracy the spelling is necessary. Wonderful interview. Thank you for sharing your story.

Yes, no disrespect, but why do they have to spell every name out? Shoot, it’s like a spelling Bee

@@lisaottomann2396to keep the track and know and if somebody denies those places never existed or the spellings were incorrect they could tell them elsewise

@@lisaottomann2396 because it is a record to keep and you want it to be accurate (sorry the genealogist in me... i wish everyone was so accurate with records)

This was an incredible though clearly heartbreaking story. It’s the first I’ve heard from someone in the camps in Asia. There was is so much that has really moved me and also makes me cry. You are an inspiration for all you have survived and overcome. Thank you also for your authenticity. It is remarkable to hear of so much pain and evil and to see this sweet face and person on the other side of it all. God bless you, all who suffered, all who survived, and the millions who did not.

Thank you very much. Very touching. I am also from the Netherlands, I think the name of Trudy's father must have been van Reijn, and her mother of course was also called van Reijn at the time of Trudy's birth. I have not listened to the whole interview yet. Probably later I will find out where the name Berman comes from. Probably Trudy's married name. But why does she say that her mother was also called Berman?

Lovely patient lady. The insistence on SO much spelling is awful. Very ignorant interviewer, her manner is quite painfully insensitive. Please fix this.

Such a lack of patience. There is a reason they spell these names, too many for me to mention but suffice it to say that USC Shoah Foundation knows what they're doing. Trust the process.

People are still looking for lost relatives. The spelling of names and places is part of creating the data bsses to help people find people.
