Man, it makes me so sad... I mean, I'm sure she'll explain the meaning, but we can draw our out conclusions and interpretations and it looks like the ghost is Marine, who died trapped in the chest and current day Marine crosses the time lines somehow and finds it and... releases her.

There eyes aren't the same even when the dead Marine gets all her color. Their eyes are still switched so it could be a brand new "Marine" or a girl taking up her mantle as she was most likely legendary to inspire an impersonator

Nav video, let's go! This is such an insane song, the instrumental goes hard, Marine's wonderful singing and the call-backs to Treasure Box are so immaculate, and then the animation is just insane. There are actually some visual references to MariBako's MV as well, what I've seen pointed out, the skeleton in the flashback section has the same posture Marine has in the box screaming "Open up!" close to the end. I think it's supposed to be a timeline in which the box wasn't opened and she died inside, so she haunts the ship with all her grudge and anger, until Dead Ma'am's Chest happens. Could be a different timeline Marine, a descendant or just metaphorically her coming back to her darkest times to heal herself or something. Super interesting story in any of these scenarios. Incredibly well done by everyone involved!

ghost marine symbolizes her desire to remain frozen in time as a forever-young girl aged 17 Season X. captain marine is the only one capable of opening the treasure box that the ghost guards, her fear of age, locked away as a dessicated corpse. the lyrics make it pretty clear the song is about marine freeing herself from her delusions of being young and finding the determination to carry on and acknowledge that the youth she greedily longs for is something to instead let go of

Amazing MV and lyrics possibly the best Marine had to date, really enjoyed the song overall as well. Though I have the feeling that ultimately it might not be as virally successful as Treasure Box or Bishoujo Muzai. I do think I enjoy this more as a song and dare say it is better as one but seems to lack the catchy choreography needed to make it big in shorts and TikTok to really become viral. Especially as even after checking the Live which also seemed to lack a memorable choreography (not that the live performance was bad, but simply didn't seem dance cover material). I am not sure what Treasure Box's original growth was so perhaps this one's growth has surpassed it and will prove me wrong but idk, it just doesn't feel as much of a ultra-popular material. I am sure it will be very popular overall and surpass 25M views, hell most likely 30M and quite probably 40M as well. But I am not feeling the same 47M view vibe from it. I am likely wrong but idk, I felt like that and wanted to express it. 17:54 I mean, I wasn't expecting the Dragon but It wasn't entirely from nowhere to me. Because Marine released a song without an MV (which has a Japanese name so I have no idea what it is called) that was entirely a tribute to like Showa/City Pop era. An its cover image is a flying ship with a golden dragonhead. It is on Spotify and also should be on Marine's Topic channel on KZbin.

Yeah, makes sense. Still, as for a danceable song, marine already has "III" this year, released with Kobo, so we are served with that. This, whilst being a conclusion to Maribako, feels in the same timeline as Marine Set Sail.

After watching this video, I genuinely want Marine to at least storyboard an original anime, because these original music videos of hers have stories that need whole episodes to tell. It would amazing to one day watch an anime with "Directed / Produced by Houshou Marine" in the credits. It's also so Touhou, I was geeking out during the premiere!
