HOLOSUN HS403B RED DOT SIGHT

Those screws strip out way to easy. I just bought one and didn’t overtighten any of them. When I went to power mine on it wouldn’t do so. I went to unscrew the screws and try a different battery. As soon as I began unscrewing the first screw, it and the screwdriver both stripped out even though the screws were not tightened very much at all. Now the battery tray will not come out. I have emailed Palmetto and am going to get a second Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot. I bought one of those at the same time to see how both compare to one another because they look almost identical and are very closely priced. The Sig Sauer Romeo 5 has a much better design for its battery cover and I totally recommend it over the Holosun! I will never buy another Holosun again! Lesson learned.

I wanted to post a follow up. I was able to get in touch with Holosun and they emailed me a shipping label so I could send the red dot back to them. In my email to them I told them how the screw and tool both stripped out. I then let them know that I tried cutting the plate out with a knife in hopes of me being able to then unscrew the screws with a pair of needle nose pliers. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out so well and all that I did was be able to cut some of the plastic battery tray material off but not enough to accomplish what I needed to do. I also scratched up the red dot pretty good too. With Holosun, I was up front and honest about everything and they still chose to warranty it. Because of my frustration with everything, they also upgraded my Holosun HS403B to a Holosun HS403R, which looks identical to the Sig Sauer Romeo 5, and has the round battery compartment on the side with a cap that screws on and off. Needless to say, I was very surprised and totally stoked that the Holosun customer service department was willing to do that for me. As a result of that, please disregard my last post because after having everything taken care of by them even though some of the external damage that is on the red dot, was done by me attempting to try and get the battery tray out of the red dot. Holosuns customer service is fast, friendly, and totally top notch in my humble and personal opinion. I now can’t wait to compare the Sig Sauer Romeo 5 to the Holosun HS403R in a true side by side comparison. Even the AR-15’s that will be used for the comparison purposes will be identical in every single way.

Yours has a canted front glass too it looks like. Holosun says its normal I guess for this model. @ 10:53 mark it looks like it cants 1 or 2 o'clock. I thought mine was messed up. My friend got one too and thought his was messed up. Classic Firearms had them @ $99 I think it was. As long as it works I dont care. Below is their response, just so you know or others may think theirs is messed up. Thank you for contacting Holosun A canted objective lens is part of the design of reflex/reflective type optical sights.Note that the coating on the objective lens is there so that the lens can act as a mirror for the specific wavelength of light produced by the LED located at the opposite end of the optic. In order to create a proper reflection of the reticle/dot, the objective lens must be perpendicular to the LED. You may see some objective lenses that are tilted left to right, top to bottom and others that are in between. This is due to the different locations of the LEDs in different models.

Iv always shot using only irons. Iv always prided myself with that. Last week the eye dr said I needed glasses, I’m starting to tell, if I want to keep making the long shots, I’m going to need some sort of optics in my life hahaha

You should use the high riser for stribog…that way , you’ll still able to use the irons… Try it..

Battery tray is a deal killer. Get one with a battery turret. There is a reason they give you a spare battery tray.
