This is the process that I go through when I take in a holster for repair. Most of the communication is done through email and lots of pictures.

New to your channel. Love to see how you work on holsters I work a little bit on Holsters myself like I do on baseball gloves but it's all different. Just searching information about holster repair and haven't to come across your channel. Name is gunny Joseph angel USMC 25 service to the country. We'll definitely check out the channel and check out your videos. Thank you very much and have quite a bit of holsters of my own. All ones for world war II for German lugers like the ones SS used. And also modern holsters question. Do you also work on shoulder holsters anyway, new to the channel? Have a blessed day and hope to see your videos. You got one more fan going to be checking out your channel. Thank you very much and have a wonderful day. Yours truly, gunny Joseph Angel

Thanks for checking out the channel. I am also prior service USMC, thank you for your service. My apologies for not responding sooner. Working on these old holsters is something I enjoy quite a lot. I still try to do custom work too, but the repair work is taking more of my time. Stay tuned, I have some more interesting holsters coming up.

What do you use for thread? Also waxed thread or not? I need to get better at holster making and leatherwork. It truly is an art in itself. Wished I had space for a dedicated leatherwork station. Maybe one day! I made a nice horse butt strop with mahogany wood as a paddle strop for my shop recently. Man do I like horse leather! So dense compared to pig/goat/sheep/cow. Worth experimenting with once to see. Gonna make a leather strop for my straight razors soon out of it. Always enjoy your videos! Keep em coming!

Makes me wonder if there is a way to dye or color at least the thread used to restitch to match the age? Most is polyester or nylon and impossible to dye at all. Just pondering out loud. Lugers are cool would love to own one, one day!

I'd like a Luger one day too, out of my price range. The thread I use for these repairs is a linen thread, about 0.8mm like was used originally. The thread I use isn't waxed so I use beeswax and wax it myself. The thread can be dyed, the trick is dying one side and not the other, I've touched on this in other videos I believe. The thread tends to stay white-ish on the inside, I use a paintbrush to apply a little dye to the outside part after experimenting to get the color right, kind of time consuming.
