I only recently got into cigars, about 6 monthes ago. One day, I came back home from a smoking session and was taking off my smoke clothes and then a thought all of a sudden hit me. This smells like my dad when he came home from work and hugged me back when I was a kid. My dad always had those quiet but heavily present mafia boss type of vibe to him, but he was the last person I would associate with smoking anything considering how hard working he was and how busy he was. So I asked my mother if my dad ever was a smoker and only then she revealed to me that he did in fact smoke cigarettes through out my childhood but quitted. I guess the genetics doesn't fail to replicate. Except it's cigars for me. Now the smell after a smoke session always reminds of my dad back in my childhood. Back when he was still a young man, energetic, charismatic, stoic, unemotional, quiet yet present, and yet authoritative yet respectful in the ways he treated others. He's now in his mid 60s, weak, beat up physically, but still the same dad.

Thank-you sirs! This answered my question about cellophane and different regions being stored together. Simplicity is good, but becoming an afficianado is a passionate endeavor when you enjoy the process and joy of speaking to others with a joy and passion.

Hey guys I really like this format and the back and forth banter. I remember my dad's father would smoke his De Nobili cigars (10 cents for a box of 5) and occasionally dipped them in rum or vermouth. He would smoke them standing on the stoop of his building on 187th St near Arthur Ave in the Little Italy section of the Bronx. Oh the memories. My choice of an occasional cigar is a bit different than his. Thankfully

It's very interesting how cigars can connect with memories and bring a lot of nostalgia as we highlight in the video. Thanks for sharing, and for watching!

In regards to the cellophane discussion, I bought some of those small stickers, about 1"×2" and I write the date that I purchased them on it and place it in my humidor. I buy enough that sometimes I forget when I bought them, this allows me to smoke the oldest 1st. Rotate them, so I like cigars that come in cellophane

I love the opinions of Anthony Mizzola! Don't overthink it. If the flavors of two different cigars marry, well, if they're 2 good cigars, so be it. He has the attitude of "f#(& it, just enjoy it". Thats very refreshing!!!

Getting them from some retailers I would go 2 months in my opinion. This is personal experience. Some smoke great right off the truck but not all.

What about when the local B&M and the boxes just cam in that week. I have had a lot of them that didn’t rest before the store put them on the shelf.
@holtscigars2 жыл бұрын
Normally cigars should be good to go right on the shelves when delivered to a store because they are properly stored before being shipped, and the transit time shouldn't be more than a few days. Sealed boxes of cigars hold in a little humidity, so your local b&m should be fine putting newly arrived cigars out on the shelves!

I have a box of cigars called lirds of england . They were my granfathers i was told from around the 20s . Tyey are unopen is it posible to bring them back to life? I received them about 2 months ago i did put in humidor ,but unsue if they will be smokeable or if i should just kerp for the fact of age and sentamental purpose. I will add that iv never herd of this brand ir arigin

As long as they're not falling apart and there's no mold on them, keep them in the humidor and make sure you check the humidity to be around 70% and around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. If you can consistently maintain the humidity for a good amount of time the cigar leaves should rehydrate and be smokeable. Keep us updated!

If you plan on aging cigars in or out of the cellophane, is it best to have a separate “aging” humidor or even a large tupperdore that you can store away until it’s time to smoke?
@holtscigars2 ай бұрын
It would help you see which cigars you're aging and which are ready to fire up, but it isn't necessary.

Why shouldn't you store cigars in Tupperware?
@holtscigarsАй бұрын
They are airtight and poorly insulated so they are prone to temperature and humidity fluctuation.

To each his own, but I guess I'm a bit of a maverick when it comes to cello. When I get a shipment, the first thing I do is remove that ugly cello. I stick the beauties in my cedar humidor and don't touch them for 30 days. I'm telling you, they are more mellow after a month than they are on day one, and they are even better after two months, and better again after three. I promise.

Which part do you disagree with?
@eggtimer25 ай бұрын
What's to agree with? Name one fact that you stated? Cigars age better with cellophane off? Proof? What does better mean? They age faster? What? We get too technical in the Cigar world? What? Nothing at all is so far technical! Everything is hand waving "I advocate" "as far as I understand" - not much understood, researched, or god forbid, technical!
@holtscigars5 ай бұрын
It's widely accepted and known that cigars age faster when stored without cellophane. Try it out for yourself 😉 Mazz & Faccia have over 20 years of industry experience and are just trying to share their cigar knowledge, you're welcome to take everything that's said with a grain of salt. Either way we appreciated you watching!
