Not much for comments, from an old hobo but that harmonica was unbelievable. If you’re never seen a steam locomotive start up, there’s a thing called wheel slip that sometimes happens. Look it up and think about the way he plays and you will be amazed. Only old hobo’s recognize it. Godspeed beautiful people to you and your lovely family.

Hey guys the harmonica intro on this one is played by Shorty Medlocke, band leader Ricky Medlocke's grandfather. Shorty toured with the band and introduced them at every show. He also does a fun banjo intro on _"Rattlesnake Rock & Roller"_ that's well worth a listen. And for another train song with harmonica intro, there's the 2020 release _"Train True"_ by Blue Oyster Cult who are still around and kicking.

I got used to this being blasted constantly as loud as it would go 23 years ago .My wife is an avid railfan/model railroader and it is always being played in her 1964 Chevy Impala SS while chasing the life sized trains or running her baby sized model ones in the house ,train barns or garden railroads .It is a surreal experience to ride in the 64 Chevy with that big 409 engine doing what it does best while chasing one of her beloved steam locomotives .Between the 409 raising hell with a bad ass exhaust sytem ,the train with it's whistles ,bells and this song blasting on a killer stereo system it is a hell of a ride and not for the faint of heart .Most of the time she just sits on the hood of the car under the trestle that crosses our rural land on the river we live on fishing, jamming out to great music waiting on trains .Poor thing has it so hard .She does go well armed of course due to wild hogs as self protection as many would be car thieves have found out the hard way .Let me put it this way the hogs aren't the only ones had a high powered rifle ,compound bow or crossbow aimed at them .She gets asked a lot why she doesn't sell her car and get a new one ? She tells them I have only had this one 43 years it is practically new and I have never had it let me down yet .This is not her only vintage vehicle she has several more she has restored completely herself .She is consistent if nothing else .Highway Song by these guys get a lot of play also and is a real banger .

Saw Blackfoot at the Waterbury Palace Theater here in CT in 1981 with a brand new band from England called Def Leppard warming up for them. HIGH N DRY had just come out & I was there to see Leppard mainly. Then Blackfoot hit the stage & my mind was blown how amazing this band was. I left that show & immediately started my collection of their vinyl. It was the only time I got to see them but what a memorable introduction.

I saw that tour in Indiana. I believe it was Blackfoot’s Marauder tour. Def Leppard opened up and rocked the place. High - N -Dry is such a good album. If I remember right Blackfoot played material from their Marauder, Strikes and Tomcattin albums. They were so great. Too me that was the best time to catch both those bands. If I remember right, Blackfoot may still exist, but it’s now 4 young guys Ricky picked out to carry on the bands name. Somebody may correct me on that.

Guys, Blackfoot's singer/lead guitarist/ co-song writer is Rick Medlock who was in Lynyrd Skynyrd for a minute before Blackfoot & has been one of the lead guitarist in Skynyrd since they put the band back together in the late 80's. The harmonica in the beginning was Rick's dad Shorty Medlock who was a blues man in Jacksonville, Florida where they lived. You definitely need to hit Highway Song next. An epic jam that a lot of the southern rock bands seem to do, & I love it. But think on the lines as Free Bird. Here's a few more suggestions for Blackfoot. Fly Away Diary of a Workingman Fox Chase Spendin' Cabbage Wishing Well (Free cover) Also another southern rock band you should check out is the Outlaws. The also have an epic jam. Green Grass & High Tides, again think Free Bird. They also have a great catalog to jump into. Hughie Thomasson one of three lead guitarist & singers also spent some time with the reformed Skynyrd. Great reactions guy, keep up the good vibes.
