In this song Eminem is using a poetic meter technique called anapestic tetrameter where he uses a three syllable foot that is made up of two unstressed syllables followed by a stressed syllable. You can also hear it in twas the night before christmas and dr seuss’s yertle the turtle, you could actually read those to this beat and it will flow perfectly. Eminem knows his shit, dude is a poetic genius. Edit: since i got a lot of responses i recorded my own rendition 🤣: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXLbc61og9qEmZYsi=i_oQPPa-2LOJT_-U

The flow is a poetic meter called anapestic tetrameter. An anapest is a three syllable metrical foot with the accent on the third syllable and the "tetra" means there are four feet per meter, which makes sense given that the beat is in 4/4. He also wrote, produced, and performed this song all by himself. Made the beat, wrote the lyrics, performed the verses; the only thing he didn't do was record and engineer it, that was Dre.

Fun fact : the drums are very unusual on this beat to fit the piano loop. A normal beat would have the kick hit the 1 - 5 - 9 - 13 tick. But on this track the kick hits the 4 - 8 - 12 - 16. It's very unorthodox and Eminem is really known for using beats that nobody else can rap over like kill you or underground.

Old man here. I’m from a rock/metal/punk background but I remember loving Em in the early days. I even saw him live in Glasgow (Scotland) I love how something just hits the memory and blows you back to ‘That Place’ - I remember buying Em’s first two albums round about the same time I got Kid Rock’s first album (don’t hate me) and I was playing Driver on the PS. I had just discovered these amazing crisis (think you guys call them chips? Crazy people) call Fish ‘n’ Chips and life just felt fucking so good. It’s scary to think that was maybe 25 years ago I’d probably struggle to accept I was 48 if a truck hadn’t driven over my head in 2016 and was now a total house hermit lol Loving the channel though. It’s great to see someone feeling the way we felt when Em first blew up. We’d never heard anything like it before and now it’s like the world has had some sorta reset as people now forget that this stuff blew up a quarter of a century again then just disappeared and everyone forgot it existed so it’s not only great to see someone listens to it and reacts, but also truly gets it. Really understands why something slaps and, more importantly, why we need an Eminem every once in a while

Ok my man, think u re slowly but surely becoming a stan so its time for the song Stan now!😂😁 Stan is without a doubt the best storytelling song ever. Love ur energy. MMLP is generelly ranked as Em's No.1 album and The Way I Am would be at least top 3 song from Em in most peoples list🔥 keep the reactions coming!

Lose yourself is a must. For that song to be so good with the pressure thats was on is nuts. Biggest music star in the world starring in a movie about his life, the pressure for the theme to be lit was insane and he nailed the f out of it.

I think this is his best song. The way he so adamantly stands up against the censoring of art. The way he points out the distorting of truths by media, and how the media paints art and artists as some sort of catalyst for horrible atrocities like Columbine. This was the first time when I was young that it felt like we saw shady's mask taken off and eminem being born. And also standing up for Marilyn, which I highly recommend you research, was not something he needed to do or anyone expected to happen, but he did and its thug as fuck when he brought him on stage for the live version of this.

Bro I love your Em reactions. It's so refreshing to see a new person watching Em who is actually passionate about the way he raps and appreciates the artistry of it. Your reactions are like crack lol. Hopefully you check out Renegade at some point with Em and Jay. It's not on any of Em's albums so it's easy to overlook and miss it if you're just doing Em's discography. One of his best verses.

Eminem said he wrote most of this album high on ecstasy & Vicodin while he was on tour in Europe. Slim Shady LP made Eminem MTV famous.. I remember this album, the Marshall Mathers LP, made Eminem Mainstream Famous. Then 2002 "The Eminem Show" made Eminem a superstar on par W/Elvis &:Micheal Jackson in their prime.

I wasn’t a fan (in its true sense) of Eminem, never bought his albums or anything but I still knew many of his songs because they were played everywhere. So radio and MTV definitely played his songs. This is a classic. Love it!
@caistigh20623 ай бұрын
In fairness, he went through stages where he was basically blackballed. He was on radio/MTV for most of his career, but he was taken off, and they ATTEMPTED the same many other times with limited success, like a number of channels and radio stations taking him off, but not enough to diminish his popularity. None of it managed that after all

Then listen to the full version of Headlights. It hit hard me. How I felt in 1999 to getting older and relating to the song years later. The imagery of both me and moms left alone on a sinking ship by some asshole and how dumb our anger was because of a shared pain not realizing he didn't leave a hole just in me but her too. Yet the anger blinding two people from the others pain instead of bringing closeness we'd take it out on each other. And that's a great order to do them tbh, and I think all of these have music videos. I'm going to repost this Prof recommendation until you acknowledge it! xD
