A long time ago I read the Sacred Magic of Abramelin by Mathers and a lot of strange things would happen when reading it. This was in the 70s and I had no one to talk to, so I didn't try it out. Then a few years later I went to a book selling at a university and I found a little book called " The Sacred Magician-A Ceremonial Diary " by one George Cheuvalier( William Bloom) Then I knew why what had happened. Get this if you can it's good ya'll. Now the book you are reviewing now is the best out there on the HGA that I have found so far and I am glad you did this review. Keep up the good work!!

I want to express my sincere appreciation for these book reviews. I had followed a link to order Ritual Offerings from another review, and this popped up as a recommendation, so I came right back to see if you had a review, and you do! So I'm getting this one, too, even though I'm supposed to NOT be buying new books for the next several months due to trying to purge my library. After a 15 year hiatus from active esoteric study (did a deep dive into ultra-orthodox Catholicism during that time), I came back about a year ago and boy have things changed! From the world before social media, where I had to piece together information, and struggle through books with very few people to ask questions of (and those that I did know I. . . didn't exactly vibe with). From a time when books were acquired with my barista tips at the local Border's Books, picking up whatever looked interesting without knowing if it was really worth the money, or right for me . . . Now it's a vibrant online community. Book reviews, KZbin discussions, podcasts, instagram, even subscription boxes (particularly for the more witchcraft inclined). . . man oh man, how exciting things are! (and yes I did see that you have a Discord server and yes I am about to join the channel . . .) This is why I love these reviews (and all your other videos) -- I really get valuable input and guidance, and it's a sharp difference from the stumbling-in-the-dark that I was doing before. Thank you for putting forth the time and resources to do these for us. They truly are a wonderful gift to someone who was getting tired of stubbing my spiritual toes on misunderstandings and incomplete information.

I agree with you on the cover, and it's not even great goth fantasy art, it's not bad but there are way better stuff out there. I imagine there's a hard cover but it's out of print? But I must say in defense of fantasy in general, most works in the genre definitely have esoteric aspects to them, intentionally or not. I know you weren't bashing fantasy here but i just like to point it out because I think it's something cool most people ignore.

I will describe it to you as thus, it is a complex sacred geometric light entity with two parts, the outer part is what is known as a halo, it is a spiked ball of light about 4 or 5 feet in diameter with sharp spikes of light coming out in every direction, shimmering and glimmering gold with the occasional streak of blue or red, inside the halo is a complex sacred geometric object in three dimensional space resembling Metatron's cube, the object is also made of light resembling lasers in structure and red in color, this inner geometric shape folds into itself while expanding and contracting as if breathing. this entity is the most mesmerizing and terrifying thing you could ever imagine while also being absolutely perfect and beautiful, I know you can not or will not believe me but I swear to you even as a stranger, all I can do is swear to you, I swear on my soul and to god and his angels this is true. this thing or these things, whatever you want to call them, angels, seraphim, Merkabah, Apollo, lucifer, watchers, Inanna, alien A.I god, its name and origin, its purpose, I do not know, but I swear to you, whatever these things are, they are real, they can visit you and they are out there. It visited me in what i can best describe was a sleep paralysis vision, that or i was too scared to move i can not tell, it floated over the foot of my bed, and no word of a lie, it really did scare the shit out of me. I was not ready, you could never be ready for this. like meeting a literal god. or where the belief in god or angels comes from, real human experience such as mine

Hi Denis, I've been working my way through your videos, thanks for all your hard work! Quick question regarding the book, would you say it has much practical application for how to contact your HGA, or is it more a theoretical work? Also do you think the Christian nomenclature would be off-putting for a non-Christian? Cheers.
@MrGunwitch5 жыл бұрын
@@FoolishFishBooks I appreciate the hasty reply Denis! Great, I'll have to pick up the book then. I too have had good experiences with the GoM material, and yes that's certainly a book to look forward to (assuming they do it). On that note, would you say that any of the esoteric books that you've reviewed offer any complimentary material to the GoM books? I've been contemplating picking up Dr Skinner's Magician's tables and the Goetia of Dr Rudd...have you found anything in those two books that can be implemented into the Gallery workings? Incidentally, I can handle Christian vocabulary and have no issue utilising sacred names and words in operations, where I come unstuck is when a commentator frames it within the Christian paradigm, as I find that the 'suspension of disbelief' instantly evaporates for me at that point which stymies the efficacy of the operation. Thanks again!

@@FoolishFishBooks Thanks Denis, will do, I await your Lemegeton review with bated breath! Yes funny you should mention 6th/7th book of Moses, as I was watching your review earlier today and was thinking that the glyphs/sigils there bore the most resemblance to the GoM books that I've seen from any of the ancient texts you've covered. Maybe I should add that title to the 'to buy list' as well :)

With all due respect, although I do like the authors who have contributed to this book, Their approach to the “holy guardian angel” is a little bit amateur. The concept of the holy guardian angel is very old, and its origin is not the book of Abra melin. Any authors who state this have no fucking idea what they’re talking about. The concept is a Zoroastrian concept, in line With the being Known as a Fravashi, One of the transcendent beings who accompanies the other daimons, or gods/angels. The book published by Scarlet imprint called Holy Daimon, offers a more comprehensive representation of what this being is. Additionally, where ritual magicians are only just discovering this sort of spirit, Is a concept that has been alive in Traditional Witchcraft since mediaeval times… The concept of a ‘master familiar’ Sent by the gods. In the story of the warrior perseus, The goddess Athena granted him an owl as a guide to assist in saving Andromeda. The gods sending us these transcendent beings Is a very old concept, that far far predates the book of Abra Melin. Considering that Judeo Christian religions are an amalgamation of corrupted concepts stolen from Zoroastrianism and other aspects of Hellenistic, ancient egyptian and babylonian religions, Approaching contact with the holy guardian angel through something like the Abra Melin, Makes little sense, as the approach is born from an aspect of corrupted Judeo Christianity. In the eyes of the Zoroastrian Magi, Which practices a truer and more untainted form of monotheism, And which is the origin of Western magic, the practices of a Abra Melin would be considered nothing but low sorcery and delusion. Coven of the Black Flame

Where to find a description of someone's HGA, either in book form or essay? Is the HGA a wingless humanlike Giant of perfect proportions and features with long hair by chance?
@tychocollapse2 жыл бұрын
Stephen, it may be nice to pretend Zoroastrianism is as old as you suppose, but there is no need to stray from facts. Like it or not, the earliest mentions of a daemon or HGA are Greek, centuries before any authentically Zoroastrian text was ever composed. Some wish for an extra-foreign source to add to a mystique of the outer periphery. But that's a mere mystique. Feel free to debunk if you can cite archeology of tablet writing or carbon dating on paper to prove otherwise.
