when asked about how many Jehovah's Witnesses are in Israel, He gave an interesting ( for me confusing) answer....@ min 5:35 he says there are about 1700 Jehovah's Witnesses and there are "other supporters of this group" ? The official numbers tat are quoted for JWs are the number of JWs who actively evangelise. In Israel that is about 1800. There are many more people that attend our meetings. For example the official figures put JW numbers world wide at just over 8.5 million. However there are many more that support JWs in some way as over 19 million attend our services . SO when he spoke of other "supporters" he was saying that there are others that attend our meetings in Israel besides the official figure.

Going to another church, even for a wedding or funeral is a disfellowshipping offense for baptized witnesses and considered a sin. The same is true for other holy sites besides churches.

I’ve definitely heard of people going to other churches for things like a funeral to support the family. Now if someone is just regularly worshipping at a different church. Thank you - one has to admire the courage of the Jehovah's Witnesses of old as a group of individuals who defied an evil megalomaniac. Whilst there are so many lovely JW's their governing body today has become very psychologically manipulative and even abusive by modern standards and driven many JW's to suicide, mental breakdowns to do with their doctrine of social shunning particularly when the abuse occurred from members of the church. Something has to give, time will tell, and social attitudes are changing.

Go look at the record. Yes JW's were persecuted. Prior to this, the Watchtower society wrote letters to Hitler in support of his stance against the Jews. This was done so that they could continue practicing their religion. There was a letter writing campaign that followed because Hitler wasn't favorable to them. After this campaign, Hitler turned on them. This is a matter of public record, if a person would investigate it.
