Holy Loch, Sandbank, Dunoon, Argyll. Scotland

A short 25 minute wander from Lazaretto Point to the Oakbank hotel, passing the Holy Loch Marina.
This area will be familiar to many American sailors, their visitors, family and partners, and I have recorded this video to let people see the site as it is now.
As I start to create more videos, please do let me know in the comments if there is anywhere you would like me to visit on your behalf.

Brings back great memories. Was on the Holland from 1980 to 1982. I plan on going back for a visit in 2 or 3 years.

Wonderful video! I was there on Canopus 70-71. Such a beautiful place. Scotland will forever be calling me back i think.

Sure looks empty without a tender moored out there. I was on the Canopus too. I road her over from Bremerton, WA. I can't tell you how many trips I made across the Clyde on various liberty boats. I really like working on Box Ls. We came close to rolling one--I think it was #2 on the way back. There was a storm and there were large waves on the Clyde. Most of the time I worked on LCM 5. After my EOS I joined the USNR and ended up with 17yrs--including going to Desert Strom. EN1

Glad you enjoyed it. I have been asked to do a couple more videos (one of which is finalising at the moment) and hopefully they will either bring back nice memories, or let people see how the place has changed and developed since they were last here.

@@rmvideotours It's been 49 years since I was stationed there and there has been a significant change which is a good thing. I hardly recognize the old navy pier. I remembered the navy pier as being just across the street from the NCO club, I guess my memory is not as good as I thought. Thank you very much for taking the time to show the progress of the Holy Loch, I sure loved it there. Looks like the old NCO club at least the same building is still there.

Brings back great memories stationed on Canopus as34 feb-71 thru nov-73 LI2 great place to spend 2yrs + in the navy LI2 Mccormick 2/70 thru 11/76

My Dad Larry (Lawrence) Zwolinski was in the US Navy from 59-63. He was in New London, almost in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and stationed in Scotland. He would have been 82 on 4/24/2023. He passed away 11/17/22. He loved the navy and talked about Scotland all the time!
