In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Champ. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Most custom classes have the issue of either 1. Being Ugly 2. Being overpowered 3. Not really working; but this class is the only one to not have any of those flaws. It might as well be an official class.

Curse + starter card synergy is something that fits into the other classes. I don't see deadeye being a mechanic in the base game but everything else is great

@@newironside I think that deadon it more of a vanilla mechanic than most though, its by no means overpowered. and leads to pretty interesting interactions.

The issue I have with Hermit is that a lot of games continuously come down to having Determination(the power that grants you 1 strength when you get a debuff) in every single deck. It has the same rarity as Inflame which only gives 3 strength max, and the upgrade makes it innate... There's cards that are just straight up not useful enough even in the most ideal scenarios, or something you take at least 1 copy of in every single run when it pops up. Overall it's decent for a custom class, but it's got some glaring issues even after the rebalancing it had.

If it works the way I think it does, flex would be an insane strength engine with determination. Strength down next turn is a debuff, then the strength you lose is a debuff getting two permanent strength up triggers for playing it.

The main purpose of the memento curse is to be a retaining card. It helps with card positioning for Dead On

I didn't expect the Virtue play at 1:53:04 in the heart fight. Without it, the Fairy in a Bottle could have been saved for the big single hit next turn.

The Hermit is amazingly well thought out and constructed. Well I think there are a few cards that are flat out busted (Determination, I'm looking at you.) and it's maybe a little too easy to lean into a theme because there are so many different cards that scale, but for the most part the cards aren't overpowered.
