Man, I played a 3vs3 against Khalazarr. That man's an absolute beast. Couldn't beat his cannon/knight army, and he was really good at harassing. He also had help from his one ally, despite losing his other ally early to me just attacking with knights/longbows. My two allies also chose to do nothing and let them tech up, thinking they'll tech up too. Only one of my allies had an army, but lost it pretty quickly too. My third ally was just, "huh-uh! Sim City goes brrrt!"

AoE 4 sim city looks pretty at least. If you build according to the yellow shadows that show up when you are placing the building structure little roads, gardens, fields and ponds are spawned besides the building. It is so soothing to look at.

Good game, didn't think you were going to win when you were out walled. But it seem like men at arms with pierce armour upgrade is a hard counter. Saw a game where they went MAA then built rams. I also scheme that a 75/25 split of MAA/greatswords would be a great "tank and spank" combination with the MAA there to soak up arrow fire and the GS can do their AOE damage. It would take a top tier player to micro snipe out all the GS, even then his attention will be diverted from other things.

At 17:13 You get the upgrades for melee attack and melee armor, however you know your opponent has a ton of longbows so you probably should have gone for pierce armor instead of melee armor. Remember the armors in the blacksmith apply to all units AGAINST the particular dmg you choose. Getting melee armor doesn't mean you get armor for your melee units, it means all units get melee armor.

Smithy works diffrent, you do not get upgrades for tropp types, the armor is sepperated in melee armor for everyone and ranged armor for everyone, so allways get both armor upgrades

That is a feature in AoE2 for all versions but this is developed by Relic and not Ensemble or Forgotten Empires and I presume this uses same engine as Company of Heroes (CoH3's to be precise) and in Company of Heroes you can't change your color. You are always blue. Allies are always yellow. Enemies are either always red or a shade of red. I'd much rather have color picking like every other decent RTS game, don't know why Relic have a stick up their ass about it.

Has anyone done the math yet on when is the optimal time to recruit a prelate as HRE? I feel like it should be the first thing you do.

Prelate first. They gibe 40% gathering buff so prelate will buff them 240%. That is a 140% production bonus over having a villager out first. First 3 villagers then onto gold and prelate can then go buff them 120%.

@@LtBoot @Turin I'm no expert but I have done some theorycrafting with HRE. If you going economy boom then you build the prelate building, so you only need 1 for dark/feudal ages. Build more before castle age so you can grab relics to put in the religious landmark that gives 200% relic gold. Then build the town hall land mark for a few ree TC with discounted villagers. I would do this in FFA type games where people generally turtle. For rush 1v1 type games I would still only 1 in dark age, build blacksmith to save 150 wood, time and get cheaper upgrades then MAA/Ram rush and drop the 5xtroops landmark on the front line and the keep. Prelates would be added as needed. I think the HRE has versatility on whether to go military or economy with landmarks. DISCLAIMER: I am a middle aged dude that plays like he's driving a tractor full speed in first gear so take my advice with a grain of salt. I do like theorycrafting though.
