Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2023. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.

Really, banks require more regulation. The entire idea of banking as "let's gamble" is terrifying. Because they discovered in 2008 that the government will always bail them out, there are no repercussions. These bank crisis are so worrisome. This whole financial crisis and the Great Recession posed the most significant macroeconomic challenges for the United States in a half-century, leaving behind high unemployment and below-target inflation and calling for highly accommodative monetary policies. And this is only the beginning!

Gold and Silver are often seen as a safe-haven asset that can protect against inflation and economic uncertainty. But like any investment, it carries risks. To determine if gold is the right investment option for you, an investment advisor can help you weigh the potential benefits and risks of investing in gold. They can also help you create a well-diversified portfolio that includes gold as part of a broader investment strategy. An investment advisor can help you decide how much of your portfolio should be allocated to gold and select other investments that can complement your gold holdings.

Above all, the US yield curve of 10-year minus 2-year bonds was inverted for longer than ever before, at 784 days. By far. In 1929 it was 696 days, in third place is 2008 with around 530 days. And the yield curve is rising relatively steeply. Now already at 0.37. The recession has probably already started. You will see it in the economic data in a few months. The air has gone out of the indices. And on top of that, they have bounced off a 100-year trend line in the S&P500 (logarithmic chart). If you take the high from 1929 and the high from 2000, you get this trend line.

The markets were hijacked by the elites and they have owned them ever since. Remember, the terms capitalist and capitalism refer to monied elites and their system. By definition they are synonymous. The twentieth century was wasted in a competition between two materialistic systems, capitalism and marxism. Both destroy the human soul. Time to return to a market system regulated and controlled by morals for the common good and where cheating is harshly punished and wealth limited by regulation. No more drastic and immoral wealth disparities. Wealth (income and property) disparity should be kept low and at a sustainable level. Social cohesion is the wealth of society. This requires a much smaller gap between rich and poor. But human greed is at play in all economic levels and classes and that makes life harder for all.

My understanding of Jeff’s central view is as follows: The Covid inflation was due to the combination of massive money printing + supply shocks. Both of these inflation drivers have cooled, or even reversed (we’re starting to get too much supplies and production capacity). Therefore, the inflation was temporary and we are going to go back to the 2010s period of low price inflation and low interest rates. Especially in places like Europe. (Remember when 60% of European corporate bonds paid negative interest rates?) Am I right so far? One problem with this worldview is that the world is seeing increased polarization and conflict, resulting in trade disruptions. This acts to limit supplies in many places for many commodities and products. As a result, some parts of the world will be over-supplied, but other parts will be under-supplied, and thus have inflation. (Witness Europe and their energy prices due to the Ukraine war). As a result, the disinflation case is not clear-cut, because we may have more supply shocks in our future. And along with those might come economic dislocations causing unemployment that force the central banks back into the QE boat, probably pushing inflation up. And ruining Jeff’s whole disinflation theory. Is that right?
@ThePublicPunisher10 күн бұрын
You are pretty much right. But I believe from the inflation side due to lack of supply, it is not only because of geopolitical conflict, all western countries that adopted the covid policies, destroyed many businesses that are not coming back in the foreseeable decade at least. Making inflation or stagflation a solid scenario for the years to come.

I sold my HSBC shares couple years ago when Evergrande crashed and I watch a lot of stuff on China. Even here in the UK we have had a flood of Chinese people move here as they have taken their money and ran. But the share prices have gone up and their yield is still around 5% so that's annoying. But looking at it as when I'm right not if. The UK is a financial mess! "UK long-term borrowing costs jump to highest level since 1998" "The Chancellor has a cushion of just £1bn left before she faces a “nasty choice” between more tax rises, spending cuts" "Brace for another ‘one-off’ tax raid, Britain warned" On top of all the debt they are still throwing money at this BS Net Zero stuff billions!

The only interest rates that mean anything in the US are credit card interest rates, the Fed cutting 1% means nothing when credit card rates are going up. Also inflation is still uncontrolled, my utilities are scheduling more rate increases, property taxes are going up, and have you priced a good steak dinner in a restaurant?

Who buys a bond with a negative interest rate, how does that work?
@Anne-LiseH10 күн бұрын
You hold this “safe” bond and pay to do so. Considering inflation is higher than reported it’s pretty bad.

I would imagine the poor sucker who shorted it
@pja890110 күн бұрын
It pays a coupon, but the principle (+coupons) is less than you paid for it, meaning a net negative return. It's just like any other bond. It's defensive asset.
@user-rq5sd1sq8o8 күн бұрын
Interest rate lower than the rate of inflation. You make a profit in nominal terms, but lose purchasing power.

Thank you for this very informative video. I know that most people in America rely on banks and expect honesty and fidelity. However, history has shown us that this is a false assumption. Crypto, with their inherent volatility, present a unique opportunity for substantial returns. They're not just digital assets anymore; they're reshaping the financial landscape, Those who are neglecting crypto investment will be dependent on those controlling CBDC's during the upcoming depression while we will be in a position of financial freedom. I must say trading offers more benefits than just holding and i have made over 27btc from day trading with Kerrie Farrell insights and signals in less than 3 weeks so glad I started her program..

@michaellalanae722810 күн бұрын
Rate cuts can be seen if your looking in the right place , CDs for example have fell 1%on a .25 %drop by the fed and are only paying 4.22%where upon last year you could get 5.56%.account holders are receiving less interest on accounts as well. .. 30%on most accounts.
@greenlight232310 күн бұрын
The Problem is "Basel 3" and Credit scoring. Even If people want, they cant get loans. They are Killing Entrepreneurship. 30% of Security for a loan? Before the Euro you Just went into a bank, showed your Last 3 salaris and that was it, you got the loan.

True inflation is measured against the price of Gold. We see that XAU went from 1800 to over 2600 in less than a year (USD). We see all Western currencies loosing value against Gold. The Euro and CHF have lost value against the USD, because the Swiss export much to the EU and need to stay competitive. As to the EU, their fanatical Pol Pot Greens have seriously wrecked the economy with Green laws and totalitarian cars that de-franchise the driver, which no one can afford and that no one wants. The unavoidably of cheap Russian energy has also wrecked the rest. A major recession is imminent.
