It looks like Sophia leans forward a lot when she rides and that might be why he gets fast sometimes and she loses her balance.
@xanderwallace78884 жыл бұрын
Georgia Wand agreed I also think that is the way they think they should ride but it’s not
@jumpingjackandapollo47014 жыл бұрын
Xander Wallace she is doing light Seat and you don’t know how they are supposed to ride because you don’t know there trainer and they do know how to ride every trainer teaches you different I just thought what you said was kinda rude!😐
@zoedoran1644 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree she canters in a constant 2 point almost and I think he gets confused and goes faster because that's what leaning forward means. When u canter you're supposed to be sitting deep and pushing forward with your seat. Also then if the horse bucks or stops suddenly you likely won't fall too.
@jumpingjackandapollo47014 жыл бұрын
xxVampirediariesxx no she is doing a light seat canter and that is a thing hunter jumpers do and I would know because I am a hunter jumper and we do light seat so yeah

I feel like everyone underestimates Sophie. When she was able to stay on finn and get him to calm down and stop I feel like that was a huge confident booster. I think we all knew deep down Sophie had it in her. Good job Sophie!
@babsfocker77514 жыл бұрын
I freezed frame sophie's jump. her approach was good, I think she had no contact with her legs so that put her out of the tack when finn went forward, she went behind the movement, sophie landed in the very back of the saddle which caught finn of guard and he reacted, anybody else see that? Hell, jumping is hard!! I don't jump very often, I just do cross rails. nothing above 2 foot. I'm too chicken to do any higher. but crossrails are only fun when you are in sync with your horse
@bf56724 жыл бұрын
just a tip for sophie!! try sitting back in the canter because if finn puts his head down she’s gonna go right over him! she is doing great staying light but just needs to work on leaning forward a little less!! also, awesome job sticking that!!
@emmaaaa10044 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Or even if he stumbles a little bit. I’m scared they’re gonna go flying over. Both Gabby and Sophie light seat all the time and have so far been lucky enough to ride kind horses but you should always be able to do both. If they sat on my favourite pony at my riding school they would be on the ground in three seconds after picking up the canter if they did a light seat. I light seat on him sometimes but I am also very much aware that he can pull his head down in an instant. If they sat on another pony at my yard they would be on the ground ever sooner as she rushes, does a dead stop and then turns around. I’ve seen so many people flying off her (I haven’t yet luckily) Many horses and ponies demand that you do a full seated canter
@rachelan11994 жыл бұрын
sofie, have a little more trust on your pony! he’s a pony, act like your the boss! instead of always worrying about how he might react to things, think about how you can handle it if he does react. awesome job staying on finn. just like a pro 👍🏻
@emmaaaa10044 жыл бұрын
That is amazing advice! As the saying goes “Worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s problems it takes away today’s peace” Ponies are naturally a bit cheekier but that’s also what makes them so lovely and fun to ride
@addisonmetro50774 жыл бұрын
Sophia needs to sit was back it will be easier for her she needs to master sitting deep in the saddle then do what she was doing but not grabbing the main to round him in the canter and in general hold her hands hovering his main (Not to be mean just to help a bit) :))))
@judithgraves81174 жыл бұрын
Her saddle is a bit too small and prevents her from sitting deep or back.
@leahheapp4 жыл бұрын
Judith Graves yes the saddle would prevent it somewhat, but that doesn’t stop the upper body from being able to lean back. She needs to tuck her bum underneath her, sit up and shoulders back. I think her instructor also corrected her on this in trot.

I looked like Sophie squeezed his flank witch is where they put flank straps ( flank straps make them buck ) if you squeeze there they usually will buck (known from personal experience) I squeezed there to hold on bc I hate falling off, it’s ok to do that but you can’t be mad at them or upset bc of something you did, I’m not saying you where upset but if he does it again and you squeeze there just no he didn’t mean it, I’m not sure if that’s what made him buck as I don’t know him personally. Not hate just wanted to pit that out there. Have a wonderful day. Also Sophie great job staying on and not screaming, or freezing up, you are improving so much.

They are going so well. A way to help Sophie to get the right canter lead is if she sits up when asking for the canter, by doing that he will feel like he wont have to go on the wrong lead just to balance every thing out. I thing every equestrian has done this, but you the only way you can get better is by learning from your mistakes. Hope this helps.

Also, when a horse is lame and a lameness can’t be pinpointed sometimes it’s best to keep riding or exercising them. Sometimes you need it to get worse before you can find out what’s wrong! Sophie and Finn are coming along great as a team, if you watch the jump frame by frame Sophie had a Great approach with great position but tried to sit down too quickly because she didn’t expect him to over jump that high and so she got bounced out of the tack and landed on his flank with her feet which caused him discomfort, while she was pulling his mouth, which is why he bucked! I get left behind while jumping a lot, it’s a learning progress but as she jumps more frequently she will be able to feel out when Finn is going to over jump or leave long. I have had this issue previously and I think what happened is Sophie hunched her shoulders forward and put her eyes down which made her out in front and Finn popped her with the back of the saddle. One thing that really helped was doing a lot of no stirrups and 2-point to strengthen my position and she might also benefit from a bigger saddle seat size or a saddle with a bit of a flatter build so there’s less to bump her in the bum if she gets off balance. Those bumps can bump you straight out of the saddle!
