Stumbled across this today and immediately hit subscribe. I like how you worked through the process of finding the right key and voicing vs just telling us what chords to play! Nicely done! Can't wait to check out your other videos.

New sub. I have tried to play guitar before. My brother can play extremely well. You remind me so much of him it's not even funny. Never knew about the strum pattern that makes so much sense. Thanks

IT is quite creative to try to explain Syncopation without explaining Rhythm and getting somewhat away with it. Good job!

I love the song and your video was a big help. I was wondering if you had any tabs or tutorial videos for this same song on banjo?

Hey Zachary, not yet. I’ll see if I can add that down the road.

I'm so appreciative of this video Kyle! I love this song and you have an awesome gift on explaining it so well. After playing 40 years, there's always something new to learn. That's one of the things that's so cool about guitar. I never took lessons and this can stagnate you if not strumming with others. Thanks for helping me grow. I'll share it with others in church. You have a new subscriber.

Hey, Kyle...Holy Water has been my most favorite song for months now. I sing and play guitar (still pretty much a novice on guitar-- small hands/fingers, and left-handed to boot!) but I can hear when the chord needs to change so I've just been playing the easy chords; A D G. But, for some reason, on this particular song I've been struggling with the strumming beat! I think you may have remedied that for me!... hopefully! I haven't seen you before, but am so glad to see this awesome video! Thank you. 💖

What is the theory behind this song that makes the chord progression sound so good. It sounds so good to me and I can’t understand why.
@HoodedChief4 жыл бұрын
It’s the flat 7th chord, it adds a good amount of tension. So in this case, it goes D C G, but if the seventh wasn’t flat it would be D C#dim G which is completely different
@KyleShermanMUSIC3 жыл бұрын
I agree with Trent! Gotta love the flat 7. :-)

Love the sound of your guitar!!! What is it? And what strings? I actually play a whole step down and capo as well always looking for what works best for me. The part of this song I’m looking for is the bridge and in particular where it goes up in octave, I don’t want to abuse your Grace it’s the ^only thing that really makes me want to change...
@KyleShermanMUSIC4 жыл бұрын
Craig Thompson Hey there! It’s a 40 year old Ventura. I put some money into it a few years back to set it up more like an actual Gibson. :-) I also let the strings on my acoustic guitars get older than most people do. I like the darker tone they take on. I’ll paste a link to an updated tutorial for the bridge section of this song in a separate comment.

But what about the A#dim7 in the bridge!?! Was hoping for a solid way to fake it!
@KyleShermanMUSIC4 жыл бұрын
Joey Boerner Hmmm, yeah I didn’t cover the bridge since In did it a capella. 😂 I posted an update. Let me l ow if that helps!
@Joeyshobbygarage4 жыл бұрын
Kyle Sherman watched the bridge video, great tips on the passing tones and the fancy stuff on a D chord. Still didn’t have a way to play that dang A#dim7 that comes between the G and the Bm, but I think your voicing might make it easier for me to throw an A# in the run. Thanks! Subscribed!!
