I actually think my tolerance of Sam is dependent on who is in the studio. There are some Nopie episodes where Sam plays with Ant and Jim rather well. For example, the Lady Di call in when Opie wasn't there, Sam took the Erock role for them and it was really enjoyable. When Opie is there, I believe Sam acts more like a jerk.
