@RapFanatic4ever5 ай бұрын
Security wasn’t as strict
@janefelix38215 ай бұрын
@@RapFanatic4ever The issue here has nothing to do with security as their only purpose, as it is today, is to make sure people don't bring banned items onboard. First, the likelihood of Kevin getting on the wrong plane like he did here (in 1992) was zilch. People did board the wrong planes back then, but again it has nothing to do with security. Boarding passes were rectangle-shaped (usually 2" x 5") and a section was ripped off for the gate agent to collect which was then given to data entry people to document the person who boarded. Given the time of year the movie takes place, this process of data entry could have been done the next day. While the boarding passes had the flight numbers and cities, they used the three character codes only, so Kevin's would have ORD to MIA while others on the plane would be ORD to LGA. Given gate agents were reading over 200 passes in rapid succession they often did not focus well. It was deemed the passenger's responsibility to board the proper flight, they had signs at the gate and the boards would list gates too. Today, they scan the boarding passes into a computerized system, thus Kevin's would have been flagged as the wrong flight in a second.

The term “home alone” means a child left unattended in a house. The movie title isn’t making a reference that Kevin is in a house, but rather that he’s been left unattended again. That’s why the subtitle says “Lost in New York”. He’s “home alone” again.

Can you tell me if there is a good restaurant? Maybe your parents know a place. Why don't you answer? You speak French, don't you? I don't speak English at all. Please help me out here. I remember the first time I watched this movie.... it was after 2001 so I was shocked to see how pitiful and kindergarten the airport security was.... I asked my dad about it and he said airports were really like that.... now we need to step up security for train travel after what happened in Paris
@janefelix38213 жыл бұрын
It is not the security that prevents this from happening, boarding the wrong flight, it is that they scan (barcode) the boarding pass and it would electronically verify if the person boarding has the correct pass. Back then they just ripped the cardboard pass and collected a portion of it for the entry people to type into the system later one, sometimes they were not entered for 2-3 days. It was a person's responsibility to know that they are on the correct flight, though during a Holiday rush, with all the seats taken if someone is on the wrong plane, chances are he/she will have a seat number which someone else occupies and the flight attendant when checking it out may notice the person is on the wrong plane. So security today won't be any different, it is just the scanning system, due to technology not security that will handle it.
@HarleyQuinn_933 жыл бұрын
@@janefelix3821 Okay but there also wasn’t so much as a city hall metal detector for security back then.... they didn’t have bag x-rays to my knowledge and the definitely didn’t have the super advanced scanner for people
@janefelix38213 жыл бұрын
@@HarleyQuinn_93 Your right, outside of airlines, there was not much security unless you went into a high profile area. The airport security was there to prevent guns from coming on planes as there were a rash of hijackings in the last sixties and early seventies and there was fear that a gun going off could pierce the hull and bring down the plane. That was the reason airports had them by no were else did.
@HarleyQuinn_933 жыл бұрын
@@janefelix3821 That’s all I’m saying.... they had metal detectors for people and maybe for carry on luggage but they didn’t have the x-ray scanners for luggage and people
@janefelix38213 жыл бұрын
@@HarleyQuinn_93 By the time the movie came out they did have x-rays for checked luggage, just passengers did not see them. There was Pan AM 103 which blew up via a luggage bomb in 1988 and in the 1980s a number of Columbian Drug Lords blew up planes with suitcase bombs. In those instances the person who checked the bag never boarded as once he check in he just left the airport. Just that the rules for checked bags were different as you could check a gun.

No, it was LGA because JFK doesn’t have a close scenery of Manhattan since the airport is located in between Queens (Jamaica/ Ozone Park) and Long Island. And at 2:09-2:12 LGA airport, the right of the screen is where Rikers and Randalls Island would be and to the left would be Roosevelt Island/ East River and the view of the buildings of Midtown Manhattan.
