I am glad that Kevin got the top spot on the good list. He is a good kid of integrity, always admits to his mistakes, befriends misunderstood people and battles against bad guys, even if it means risking his life. Sure, Kevin is not without his faults, but many of them are because his own family doesn't respect him or appreciate his presence or any of the things he has done for them.

Plus, even if his traps could potentially kill Harry and Marv, he didn't do it to be malicious, but to defend himself against them because they have no issue with hurting children, let alone killing them. Also, considering that Harry and Marv are robbing houses and toy stores, can you blame Kevin for being a bit too pragmatic in stopping them?

The funny little details I noticed is that Jeff actually shows genuine care for Kevin mostly in the second movie. He clearly can see that Buzz is talking out of his ass and when Kevin talks he has the kind of look like, "I don't blame you" and in a deleted scene, Jeff is shown he can't sleep at night knowing Kevin is all alone.

The Concierge in Home Alone 2 was the only responsible adult in the movie. It's literally his job to call out credit card fraud, especially when he knew something was up. The whole situation of a 9-10 year old checking into a hotel with a credit card by himself is very suspicious, and he was doing the right thing especially since Kevin was committing credit card fraud and maxing out his dad's credit card. He should be put in at the very least the neutral category, especially since he didn't fully understand that his family was in Miami and he was in New York.

As for Linnie, I’d place her more on the good side. Despite the fact she makes that les a compadant comment, she does assure Kevin that Kate will pack his suitcase. However, there’s a deleted scene where she talks with Peter and she feels empathy for the fact that Christmas will be lonely without Kevin and Kate. So this is why, I kind of rank her on the nicer but neutral side.

In the course of re-watching it, I've also come to the conclusion that I would rank the parents higher than that elderly couple that asked for Kate's watch, etc., in exchange for helping her get home to Kevin. I'd even rank them higher than that police officer that dropped a bit of his doughnut on the telephone receiver in that one scene, because the parents tried harder to save Kevin than he or any of the other police officers did.

This is completely relatable. The Mccallister family reminds me of my family growing up. The only real difference was my older brother and i got the worst of it , my family always favored girls to a point of almost complete neglect. My brother was like Buzz , he got in trouble but i also did for his behavior. My parents never learned how to be parents and that's one of the regrets my mother taken to the grave with her. My father knew he was a terrible parent but he found comfort in a veil of ignorance , his father treated him like garbage when he was drunk. My father thinks since my grandfather was terrible so he has an excuse.

@@sonnyfox60 he’s the way he is because of his family. He’s treated like a nuisance when he’s 8 years old. The parents act as if he should be the mature one in situations when he’s the youngest child they have. He’s going to act up due to his age, but if he acts any worse than the average 8 year old it’s due to his family dumping on him. What we see of an interaction with his parents and siblings in the beginning of the film is probably a glimpse at what Kevin goes through on a daily basis.

@Gamer Glove fuller is franks kid, Kevin’s cousin. But this is what he does in the first few minutes. 1) piss and moans about not being able to see a film he’s to old for, even claiming it isn’t to old for him. 2) rolls all over newly folded clothing just to be annoying. 3) instead of asking for help he lazily asks people to just pack his suitcase for him. 4) starts shouting at the top of his lungs and being annoying just because of a few jabs taken at the fact he can’t pack his suitcase. ( I constantly got jabs about not being able use a knife and fork at a similar age I never reacted like that) 5) spoilt all the food on the table over not getting a cheese pizza, (although he had perfect reasoning to push buzz and everything else that happened was accidental so I give him half points for this one) Except for the last one, we see nothing that justifies his actions

He donates every penny he makes to go to the children's hospital and he doesn't even exaggerate it and ensures especially on the day after Christmas to send all the money from the register to go the kids hospital. Kevin being the most good is so bullcrap. I love Kevin, but he is not a saint. I do consider him a good person overall, but he is not the nicest person. Here is a list of sins that Kevin has committed, and there is definitely more than what I am giving: • Wishing for his family to disappear and then celebrating because of his wish coming true. • Wishing to go on his own vacation and then celebrating because of his wish coming true. • Scaring the pizza guy and the hotel employees. • Even though it's an act for charity, he spends his father's money on a donation to Mr. Duncan instead of his own. • Not learning his lesson of family being important after the first movie. • Torturing Harry and Marv with the booby traps before calling the cops in both movies. He should've called the cops first before booby trapping them. • Spending $967 of his father's money on room service. • Trashing Buzz's room and stealing his life savings. Even though Kevin is not the most good person in these movies, he is definitely the most relatable. But being relatable is not always good. Even Kevin admitted in the first movie when he was talking to Marley that he hasn't been a very good boy.

@guy who plays minecraft Even though the traps are brutal and in the second movie, they would kill you, I understand what they're for because you have the right to defend yourself, but what I meant was that Kevin should've called the cops first, then have the bandits go through the booby traps until the cops arrive. Then when the cops arrive, he would stop the traps and let them be arrested. But in these movies, he always calls the cops after he is done with nearly every trap in his arsenal. In other words, despite how brutal these traps are, Kevin should've utilized them as a means of buying time before the police arrives, not as a means of exclusively torturing the bandits.

You know I personally would have just put Kevin's Mom on the Neutral part of the list because despite how much she seemed to hate and neglect Kevin, she, unlike his Dad or the rest of the family fought at all costs to get back home to Kevin even when there were no flights available. That proves she did actually love and care for him. I mean any wise parent would dubble their efforts to get home to their child who is home alone regardless of the transport issue. When the rest of the family chose to stay 2 days in Paris for the next available flight she was determined to fight to get back to Kevin, no matter what. That's exactly what the rest of the family should have done, I mean if I were a parent or guardian with a home alone child there is NO way I would wait a couple of days to get a flight back to my child! Therefore I think it was unfair to place Kevin's Mom in the Evil area, she should have been placed somewhere in the Neutral section. I also would not have placed Kevin on the top of Good because, aside from him pranking the pizza man with the TV and using overly violent traps on Harry and Marv, he does other screwed up things like destroying Buzz's bedroom and doesn't bother to clean the mess up, doesn't bother to return to the shop to pay for the toothbrush inspite of later realising he had not payed for it, spying on his Uncle Frank in the shower, framing Harry and Marv for sexually harassing a woman (but I know that was to escape Harry and Marv) and causing a huge Bill on his Hotel room service, as well as illegally using his Dad's credit card to check into the hotel. These are utterly screwed up and I personally would have placed him behind Gus Polenski.

I'd like to say something in Jeff and Linnie's defense, when they got to the airport and Kate's trying to get a woman to give up her phone so they can call the police back home, Linnie tries to help by saying their brother's home alone and sounding upset on the matter. Also later when Kate asks if anyone was able to contact someone they knew back in Chicago, you see Jeff holding a phone shaking his head no and looking genuinely upset/disappointed that he hadn't

I have to agree about Peter and Kate. They are not good parents and they are useless. I think it's real pathetic and unjust that they punish Kevin not Buzz. Buzz bullies Kevin and in Home Alone 2 when Buzz humiliated Kevin during the school Christmas choir, Buzz doesn't get punished for what he did, he whispers sarcastically to Kevin "Beat that you little trout sniffer." and gets away with it. In Home Alone 1, when Frank nastily calls Kevin a 'little jerk' Peter doesn't scold Frank for talking to him like that. Frank is also not a good father and he is a horrible person. He also he treats his own son Fuller like crap. I am beginning to believe Fuller is a cruel nickname given to him by Frank because he drinks too much Pepsi and he wets the bed. In Home Alone 2, the McAllister family don't learn their lesson from the first movie and when Buzz again goes unpunished for bullying Kevin and doing something mean to make Kevin act up and Kevin takes the fall and as consequence, Kevin gets separated from the family and again has to go up against The Wet Bandits. They saw what Buzz did to Kevin and they treat Buzz like the saint and Kevin like the bad guy.

To defend Peter and Kate a little, they do treat Kevin terribly, but it’s around Christmas and that time is really stressful, so you don’t know if they treat him like that all of the time. Kate at least realizes that she’s “terrible mother” in both movie and feels bad about hat happens to Kevin, when Uncle Frank stays the exact same in both movies, meaning that’s probably his personality all of the time, not just on the holidays. I’d probably rank Kate and Peter just slightly below the other family member who didn’t directly antagonize Kevin. So they would be the most “good” of the “evil “ characters

And even though Doctor Hartman is weird, and kind of stupid he always tries to help. And Chris. He is easily the nicest person in the family. He doesn't bully Meg and is genuinly a good person with a few flaws and exeptions. And Bonnie Swanson is one of te nicest. Mayor West is at least neutral and the number one would probably be Cleveland Junior. Barbara and Carol Pewterschmidt is also very nice people

Fabulous arrangement. I do question of how Kevin ended up ranking as the best character in terms of morality but here is something also quite interesting. If you were to check out the deleted scene involving Linnie and Mr. McAllister still in Paris, you would actually see that Linnie is not at all terrible and believes that Christmas should be about family. Moreover, props to you guys for putting Megan on the good list. Out of all the older McAllister siblings, she is actually the one I love the most to this day, though I still have a soft spot for both Linnie and Jeff, mostly because Hillary Wolf embodied her character so well with that sass and that attitude she emitted in the first half of the movie but making her character a lot warmer in the second half. For the record, I highly believe Hillary Wolf is an extremely underrated actress. Merry Christmas. :)

Plus in one deleted scene for harry you get some emotional understanding and see a softer side to him, on why he hates christmas becuz of how disappointed he is that ppl dont care and forgotton what the true meaning of christmas is about, and thinks that there cynical and jaded now becuz of this. There are actually some deleted scenes from the film which show some of the characters to be more than what we thought they were; a couple featured Frank, one in which he ended up pulling Kevin's pants down and another where he forces Fuller off the couch (which shows he's not above bullying his own kids as well as his extended family). One also featured Linnie with Peter where she also showed some concern about Kevin and stated that Christmas is about family. Also, Devon Rattray (Buzz's actor) was once asked where he thinks Buzz is and he claimed Buzz ended up in prison.

Theory: Marv is actually worse between the two. Why? Two reasons. 1. Marv goes as far as to clog all the houses drains and flood the houses by leaving the water running, which Harry even thinks is too far and thinks it’s a “sick thing to do”, showing he has somewhat of a limit..... kinda. 2. At the end of Home Alone 2, Marv blames Harry that it was all his idea and he forced him to steal the charity money, when really Marv had an equal amount of interest. Also, Harry has always kept Marv around despite his stupidity, sure he may be rough towards him at times but he’s never thrown him under the bus. So at the end of the film, Marv kinda throws Harry under the bus if you think about it. Just a theory.... A film theory. (Sorry I had to lol)
