Always baffled me how these Foster kids came with very few issues considering their backgrounds and those that did managed to turn from rebel to pillar of the community in 5 episodes.

Ah, but we had to wait a few months. Shannon's repressed childhood memories of her uncle molesting her bubbled up after her relationship with Steroid Eric went sour Curtis went on a downward spiral after Laura got mashed by the train then he was later diagnosed with Diabetes. They probably wanted to go down a different route because most kid prior to them had their issues laid out first.

And no kid in Summer Bay seemed to live with both parents, and very few lived with even one. I always thought that was weird. It made sense that Pippa's household fostered kids, but it was a bit farfetched when Alf's and Irene's households started doing the same. Especially Irene, as she'd had her own kids taken from her for being an abusive, drunken, unfit mother

This group of teens are my favourites from my time watching Home and Away (I watched from the start until 1996-ish). Michael behaved like a petulant brat in these episodes though.

He came good a bit later on when he started wearing those skintight hotpants while working around the caravan park. He'd occasionally pop out half his scrote when at full stretch but apart from that the hotpants seem to have worked out for him, he was clearly still having some issues coming to terms with his sexual identity at this earlier stage.

Yeah, I noticed in the early years they were allowed to swear a bit, too, as well as using some sexual references or innuendos. They seem to be more careful now with the language and I have no idea why, considering how adult the show has become. I think they stared to tone it down a bit in the early 2000s, although since then, there have been very rare uses of language, like piss, balls and even shag, and some offensive words like slut, slag and skank. They used the word bitch quite a lot in the early years, but in recent years I only heard it been uttered twice by John Palmer and Dexter Walker. Bad language is pretty much nonexistent on the show nowadays and it's not even a family-friendly show either.

Hard to believe it's now 30 years on... Isla Fisher really doesn't look like she's aged more than 10 years at most. Watching this back also reminds me how irritating Michael was. The writers made him far too much of a grouch. Someone like Pippa being with a guy that temperamental never felt realistic.

Not as bad as Glen/Lucy in Neighbours (Paul caught them before they could get to it) or Gavin/Polly in Family Affairs or Nat/Georgia in Brookside! The last two actually were pretty physical

@@franzchong5889 Justine was originally allowed to stay with the Stewarts but messed it all up when her Smack needles were found under her bed (that storyline was chopped to pieces in the UK like a lot of stuff in the late 90s). She did get reprieve when she got clean and Pippa took her in
