I read the creator, Alan Bateman came up with the concept of the show during a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales, where he noticed locals were complaining about the construction of a foster home and against the idea of foster children from the city living in the area. The soap opera was initially going to be called Refuge, but the name was changed to the "friendlier" title of Home and Away once production began.

This would have taken ages to make, I wish the show still felt like the early years. Well done and thanks for all of your uploads!

This trailer is so good. In those years, Home and Away had a much better pace with storylines and invested into characters a lot more. It had a couple of moderately good years after Pippa left but it was a gradual downfall after that (with the exceptions of Miles/Sally/Sally's exit storyline)
@SummerBayJournal4 жыл бұрын
I agree, a gradual downfall from mid-2000 onwards in my opinion.

That is beautiful. I'm particularly fond of the big hair and ear rings and power shoulders of the very early episodes. Golden memories of Tom, Pippa, Sally, Carly, Steven, Bobby, Alf, Ailsa, Roo, Morag, Donald, Floss, Neville, and the divine Celia! Thanks for bringing back some good times.

I loved this, thank you!💜 Home And Away was so good back then. Classic scenes with the Fletcher/Ross Household and the caravan park were my favourites!😊

Great Video. I always call years 1988-1993 the classic era, 1993-1997 the golden era and 1998-2000 the Nash era. Wish 7plus had carried on past the first few weeks of 1996.
@SummerBayJournal4 жыл бұрын
The Nash era is a very suitable name for those years. I personally wish the Nashes had stayed on instead of introducing the Sutherlands.
@tanyaroy90604 жыл бұрын
Does 7plus have those early episodes from '96 and earlier up somewhere? All I see on their site is Births, deaths & marriages, Shocking moments & then new episodes from the past 2 years.

@@SummerBayJournal Thanks! Many up there to watch. Hope they get repeated on TV again too so there'll be higher quality videos of that era as well, right through to the 2000s.
