Home Arcade Tour: Sept 2023 Update with Kelsall's Arcade

We moved, and also brought the collection down from 30 to 20. We haven't stopped collecting though, find out what we kept and what were looking out for next!
Walkthrough of all the cabinets that made the cut, to be kept in the new home arcade space. Collection still includes arcade1up, iircade, and unico MVSX, but at games did not make the cut #arcade1up #arcade #homearcade #iircade #neogeo #mvsx #mods
New cabs since last tour:
1. Class of 81 deluxe
10 - Cabs that didn't make the cut and why:
1. TMNT - modded cab, needed to recoup some of the $$$ we had put into that cab
2. Tempest - only played by me
3. MK . midway legacy - replaced with MK 30th
4. Frogger - only played by me
5. At games legends mini - nobody played, and controls were really bad
6. Sit down outrun - took up too much space
7. MS pac man - replaced with class of 81 deluxe
8. Namco legacy - replaced with new class of 81 as I only played Malaga anyway
9. Marvel pin - going to do 30 table mod on either Star Wars or AFM
10. Second KI - gave to a buddy, rather than making it KI2 as originally planned

The layout is looking nice. I have the mvsx modded (following your vids - cheers!) and I think that's enough for me on the multicade side of things. There's something about keeping the dedicated cabs (additional games with each aside) for a nice look and I also find once you get too many games it kind of dilutes the experience and you end up playing less of each. We used to make the most of our fewer games when younger because that's all we had, but I think it meant we appreciated each more to be honest - most of this arcade collecting for me is for the feel, atmosphere (when people say "why don't you just play then on mame" etc.) and to really appreciating the fewer games - feels like a richer experience to me at least. :) Looking forward to seeing more and it sounds like arcade 1up have some interesting community engagement plans coming up in the coming months - we'll see how that goes. ;)

Kelsalls Arcade, I'm SO GLAD I watched this one! I now understand why the monitor on the Deluxe Class of 81' looked fine to you. Since you found the monitor on the Mortal Kombat 30th Anniversary ok, the new Namco Deluxe looks like a champ in comparison. And having seen both these monitors in person, they just didn't personally work for me. But that's what's SO COOL. It shows that we all see things differently. I need a monitor to look a certain way, but that doesn't mean my way is the only way. If you're curious about my ups and downs with monitors, you may want to check out some of my arcade cabinet reviews; each has a time stamp to the monitor section. I'm sorry to hear that your pinball mod for Attack From Mars went south. I did a different one on mine, the Team Encoder soft mod, which is working REALLY WELL and you may want to give it a go. It adds a very minuscule multicade aspect, but for only a very short time, you just pick one platform, Attack From Mars, Star Wars, Marvel, Zen Pinball, or Pinball Arcade, and then you're into just that set of games (set it and forget it). Basically, you can have your Marvel Pinball back just the way you remember it with the exact same interface and tables. What made this mod great for me was two-fold. One, I already bought and own ALL the games for each of these systems (some of them many times over), and two, the mod is strictly a software one. I only had to hook it to a PC to do the changes, no hardware messing about involved. I think you might really like it, and if you are curious, Kongs R Us's has a fantastic tutorial. @@KelsallsArcade Yup. My arcade sprawl takes up three rooms, now. First room, original releases, second one is the nicer, more realistic stuff, the third is mostly digital pinball, and a few early A1ups. Still need to find Attack from Mars, to complete my A1up pinball collection. Need Joust, Tron, and the casino cade, and that should round out the collection, for a while. A long while. LOL I can stop any time I want... Yeah. Right. LOL ;)

Sounds like a real Arcade in there. Shocked you had such a problem with the Intec on the pinball machine. Other than the back solenoids miss firing (I just unplugged them) it really brought my AFM back from the dead. Plus with the backglass mod I can play all the game like a standard cabinet, no problem. Also if you miss your TMNT do the softmod on your Simpsons to add it. Basically turning it into a 2 in 1 A1up cabinet.

Simpsons softmod is needed for sure! AFM I just didn’t like the intec deck on it compared to playing it stock. Solenoids kiss firing for a start - but just didn’t feel engaging like it did stock. And then the hdmi converter board seems to have developed a problem so the screen is all jacked up. Putting the OG PCB back in when I get time

Thanks bud. I just like to take things on face value. Could MK 30th be better? Yes! Does it need to be? No! It’s still a drab sight better than it ever was in the arcade on a crappy washed out crt screen, usually flickering through lack of maintenance 🤣

@@KelsallsArcade it all comes down to who/what inspired one build a 1up arcade. For me(and I'm sure you're similar) it was for friends and family......and myself haha. It was for those UFC, game night, family gathering type moments. And the reception has always been the same and everyone loves it! No complaints about monitors, buttons, marquees, risers etc. Another thing people don't look at with genuine older machines is the power draw. Many people are tapping into 4-6 outlets(often in older wiring) and not sure it's the best idea to run 20+ CRT based machines. On a side note, I think CTJason deserves royalties for his "island" solution for 4 player cabs. 😄

Keeping 3 SF cabs is a lil wild imo. Room looks great , didnt u guys used to have an outrun cab too? YOu have the rare golden axe cab that u dont see alot of ppl with , thats like the forgotten 1up cab lol.

Yeah, we sold the sit down outrun - was taking up too much room . I realize keeping three SF cabs is irrational but I can’t bring myself to part with any of them 🤣

Yeah they're coming out I seen more than one video on it they read the list off of 2024 and then all XL machines from arcade1up hopefully I'll get pushed back our bulshit on some of the games that's coming out 🎮🕹😀👍🏾

Interesting to see other peoples opinons on things. The Atgames wasn't good? Arcade1up you keep very interesting. My arcade1ups are disassembled and in storage and the Atgames Legends ultimate is there instead. I find the Atgames controls to be 100 percent higher quality over Arcade1up's offerrings. I also love my atgames pinball with the 1080p 32 inch playfield with a backglass monitor and hundreds of tables over the 24 ince of the arcade1up with 10 tables. The Arcade1up' always look nice in video's but when you get hands on they just feel low quality and light weight.

Great stuff buddy! Once you smash the cabs together you’ll be able to fit more in each row looks like at least 1 more in each row, did you sell a lot looks like the collection has shrunken down a bit. Are you getting fast n furious or time crisis!?

Oh man did you know next year 2024 all xl's coming out Aliens versus Predator big blue 2nd edition I think with the 3-player mode Street Fighter 3rd Strike XL Marvel versus Capcom 2 Alpha Street Fighter 3 XL it's a lot that's coming out you got to look at the list it's going to be crazy🎮🕹😀👍🏾

If you are a fan of fighting games you should pick up a vewlix or chewlix. So much more comfortable and competitive. oneups are kinda just toys there kinda cool to have one or 2 in the back of a game room as like a piece of art, but pretty bad to really play

Great review and great room! Why did you change location? Golden tee look so small in the corner! I love the way you position the three street fighter cabs! In the middle of the room you look like you still have room for four more cabs!

Had a party Friday night, and everyone felt it was a better layout with the open plan bar/ pool table going into kitchen diner/ living room and yet people in the arcade still feel part of the main party. hence got played a lot more

Nah, I like to re arrange them too much, real ones are too heavy and prone to needing to be fixed. I may venture into the xl cabs from 1up though … 🤔
