Hi Tom, thanks for the vid. I did something very similar mainly focused on the thermostat. I also took an old iPad and put it iOS kiosk mode to display a guest dashboard with just a few, simple, big buttons and controls. That dashboard controls the guest room thermostat, light, ceiling fan, local music and for fun, I added an “alarm clock” that will wake our guests to soft lighting and music. I thought about adding the firemote card to the dashboard for the guest TV but honestly, the physical remote means I don’t have to support my guests ;-)

HI can I ask how did you set up a group.family entity, im struggling with this one. Your video gave me the idea to set up a guest button for our HA as my youngest is not allowed a phone in primary school (that's ok but it means I cant add her to the away automation ) but she is at the age were we can leave her at home for a little while and I dont want to have her sitting in the dark!) Thanks PS lovely to see an irish HA youtube

Thanks for watching! I didn't realise that I forgot to explain what group.family is! I created a groups.yaml file and imported that using configuration.yaml: group: !include groups.yaml Inside this file, I declared a group, which is made up of the various people in Home Assistant. family: name: Family entities: - person.tomas_mcguinness The formatting is terrible, but hopefully this helps!

Hi Tomas.....What is the node called in node red that you are using to control your lights, its red with a lightbulb next to it......Thanks

Hi. This is the node - flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-presence-faker. You give it a time range and then tell it how often it should turn on and off and how long for. My only complaint with this node is that the time window appears to be fixed. The lights can turn on at 7pm in the winter, but during the summer it looks wrong. I will either find a replacement or adjust my automation so it will take the outside levels into consideration.
