I know I am late to the Home Assistant party, but I am finally aboard, I am finding your video's very helpful. I will be installing HA over the next day or so, and now I am feeling more confidant that I can get it working. Thanks

Just added a new subscriber to your channel as probably many here I am trying to learn as much as possible about how to set up HA without having any coding knowledge. This video in particular was great to get a few of the add ons. Coming from Smartthings this is daunting and although there are Docs available there is much missing from them, steps that whoever wrote them didn't consider would be needed for un starters. Please keep up making great videos and teaching us what HA is all about. Many Thanks

Thanks heaps mate. Every other video tutorial said that your network would just automatically find the samba files. Mine didn't and by you showing us to just enter the IP of the HA into file explorer voila.... I owe you a beer.

Yeah, the auto discovery in windows works sometimes, but depends on a lot of things. Can’t go wrong with entering the IP though! Glad it helped! www.buymeacoffee.com/Homesight

Hey Simon. So pleased I watched this. Been having issues with Shelly sensor update times going from 2sec to 30sec after I updated the HA Core. So I reloaded a 0.117.6 snapshot and fixed the update time but my History trends wouldn’t work. Learnt from you that Samba lets you see HA files, so was able to delete my broken DBase. Now I’m a happy HA user. Looking forward to being a Subscriber and doing some more learning. Thanks again from NZ!

Hi Simon Thank you so much for making something that was getting so difficult so easy. I've been bouncing from site to site from video to video trying to figure out what someone else expected was known. Now that I can access my files I can move on to trying to add hacs so I can move on to what I started in the first place.

Really enjoying your videos Simon - incredibly well put together and explained. I've been using Node Red on its own for a while now but have finally decided to move to a Home Assistant/Node red combination. I'd love to be able to simply export and import the code from my existing Node Red flows but having done a quick test it seems there will be lots of discrepancies with IDs etc. I wondered if you have any experience with this transition at all? Thanks (I see two options: Try and ensure devices and entities within HA are all the same as the original names, and add all palletes OR recreate the whole thing )
@HomeSight2 жыл бұрын
Hi Morgan, I’m glad you’re enjoying them! I can see your dilemma. Node red is pretty powerful on its own but when coupled with HA you definitely have a winning team!!! As for moving from 1 to another, I’ve never done it, but I would probably look through the text exported in something like notepad++ and look for the entity IDs in there and do a “find and replace”. It would certainly be worth a shot!

Hey there. Thanks for the video. I am stuck trying to get windows 10 to "see" my homeassistant ip so that I may share files with it. I have network discovery turned on but that doesn't seem to make a difference... Does this sound like a familiar issue?

No matter what I do, when I put my HA IP address into file explorer to access Samba Share, it opens my browser which can't reach anything. Any ideas?

Silly question -- is HACS necessary if I can just add the repository via supervisor?

Hi, not a silly question. And no, you don’t really need it, no.

@@HomeSight another silly question then -- does node red work when there's no internet? Is it a local installation into HA? Wasn't sure exactly how it worked.

There is no such thing as a silly question. Yes node Red works without internet.

What do we do if it doesn't prompt us for a login and password but instead gives us a network error diagnostic option?
@HomeSight3 жыл бұрын
Hi, is this when you are trying to browse to your samba share? Make sure you have the right IP address, make sure you are putting “\\” before it.

@@HomeSight I have tried multiple IPs and I do put // before it... even tried it with the DuckDNS name... it only gives diagnostic option...
