Great video thanks. Scenes can really only be edited as a yaml file. The fact that in the GUI the device needs to be in the state you wanted in, is the most awkward and least useful feature in scenes. I have my desktop screens and water sprinklers in scenes, when I want to make changes and I enter the scene, my computer screens turn off or my sprinklers turn on. Anytime you want to edit scenes all devices will re-enter the state as if you activated the scene. I first though this was a bug, until one of the devs told me this is actually a feature. Oh my, I never used the GUI again since. If at least you could turn that "feature" off, but you can't. It's a shame really. I find setting up scenes in the GUI is probably the worst experience in HASS. You can get around it by using the yaml file only. You can also use the GUI to add devices and then go to the yaml file to set the state.

I noticed that too for Scenes, I just use them for bedroom lights (like 16 different bulbs for some reason), but it's never bothered me, but the screens and sprinklers would bug me too.

Great video, thanks for the info. Any pointers on connecting the projector to home assistant? I have a mitsubishi project but have not been able to get it connected yet...

Sorry, just checked, and I don't see any options for Mitsubishi in HA or in HACS either. But it's something you could request over on the forums. I think I just lucked out that someone else already had an Epson projector like me. I'll say that if your projector has an API and can be triggered by an mqtt message that might work. Alternatively, you could get a RF / IR blaster that works with HA.

How does it fair against Node-Red?? also, have you tried OpenHAB yet ??
@AwesomeOpenSource

Haven't had time to try OpenHAB, and I like the simplicity of Scenes, and Automations in Home Assistant, but for those wanting more advanced capability, Node Red can be installed onto Home Assistant and used for all th automations.

@@AwesomeOpenSource BTW, "Scenes" can do just about anything "Node-Red" does right?? & Node-Red IS FOSS right?

Does anyone know how to delete a Scene?

In Home Assistant, on the page that lists your scenes, click the 3-dot icon at the right end of the row for the scene you want to delete, then click the delete option in that menu that comes up.
