Home Brewing a Hip Hop Cider at 10% ABV: • Home Brewing a Hip Hop...

Greetings folks, here is my penultimate cider of the 2023 apple season, a hip hop cider made with apple from my own garden, rose hip syrup and cascade hops also from my own garden. The other ingredients in this brew are spring water, two tea bags, dextrose monohydrate brewing sugar, pectolase and carft ale yeast no.2 from Bigger Jugs.
I make the cider by steaming the apples, then pressing them through a sieve to remove sking, pips and any hard bits. The puree that I collect afterwards is diluted with spring water before being strained through a sieve with a muslin cloth in it.
This liquid is then heated and the sugar and syrup is added to it.
The hops are boiled in spring water with two tea bags to make a hoppy tea, this is then added to the apple liquid.
All of this is put into a demijohn and then the pectolase and yeast is added before it is left to ferment.
This was an uncomplicated brew, which fermented nicely and at tasting was a delicious sparkling cider at a whopping 10% ABV, so technically a wine.
The film shows all stages of the brewing process including ingredients, recipe, fermentation, bottling, conditioning, opening and tasting.

Eminem, Ice-T, Snoop Dog, Samian and even Limp Biscuit will adore this drink! Love your going for fun names even based on musical ref/genres! and so is flavour combo hop with fruity rapping goodness, colour has nice orangey-pink. "Yo, Yo, Yo keep on hipping!" You can do back flavouring with actual fruit, and herbs if you improve the flavour. You should go for.. Trance cider or Disco Cider next time if you aiming for music ref!

For sparkling cider just go on eBay or Amazon and look for plastic champagne bottle bungs and cages. Watch one of my cider films for my discussion of these at the bottling stage. Happy brewing!!
