A few of us went in on an All American 7502 Senior Flywheel Can Sealer with Adaptor to have the ability to dry pack our own food. We got ours from the canningpantry.

Thanks for sharing you sure made that look easy. Finding cans at a reasonable price might be more into the difficult aspects like setting the sealer up. Presently with jars you will occasionally lose one due to breakage but new lids are not that expensive. Rings can be reused most times. I found your video looking for instructions for the old Best Made canner sold by Sears&Roebuck I got on a trade a few years ago. It will seal 4 sizes of cans I think maybe the largest might be the same size that you used. Idk as it came without instructions and I haven't seen it in years but know where it is, it is exactly where I put it lol. In the rest of the junk hoard lmao.

@nate7181 Yes, I was hoping to get the canner with a v-belt pulley groove in it but I will have to make one - It is too narrow to machine one in. Thanks for watching.

If an LDS member falls on his luck he also has access to so much more from the cannery. The LDS church owns and manufactures just about every item a home and kitchen would need to run. From bath cleaners, shampoo, dish soap ect, to Full pork, turkey and beef roasts. Macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, ice cream, milk butter ect. The largets cattle ranch in the US is run by LDS "cannery" same with many other farms. Im glad so many are able to find these resources.

those canning machines are beastly, just great big hunks of forged metal that work like mules. Looking at them is awesome, pondering who came up with it is even more so.

@danzak44 Its best to use both. Big buckets can store more but if you open them up you have a whole lot of food . smaller cans are good less bulky easier to transport stored in metal can be safer than in plastic.

We have used the LDS 8 times. We don't have a retreat ( yet) but are getting land with water source. We are stuck away from our home state, and In a smaller condo for now, we have manged to astore 2.5 yrs of food storage, ( who else has 25 lbs bags of wheat next to their Bed ? ( haha)! I have canned 40 lbs of Hershey Cocoa, in the Mason Jars with the Food Saver and Port attchment, and we have coffee canned this way.too. You can rent the canner from my LDS, I will try that for now. Our last major buy was the Lee Reloade and, along with the 1000's of Store Bought rounds we have, this is a great way to make ammo and we have ammased a good bit! We can help friends reload, too, and this is a great skill to have for Barter in aWROL. I love my Model 921 Pressure Canner an dhave made 1.5 ys of beef and chicken and pork and stews and turkey in the canner. Until we get home, this is all I have room for.. I am looking at climate controled storage for now, till we move home

Cool canner! Question about the cans - are they lined with BPA like all the supermarket cans? Seems to be in everything from softdrinks to soup and vegetable cans. Strong evidence it causes cancer so I am looking to avoid most commercial cans. If these are BPA free it would be a great solution. Thanks for sharing a great idea.

@danzak44 Danzak, I am guessing he chose the #10 can over the larger buckets so that once the can is opened he won't have to worry about spoilage. Eating a 5 or 10 gallon bucket of dried beans could take quite a while.

Fine for people who are happy to eat their way through 100 #10 cans of lentils and Great Northern beans. Are you sure that's the sort of food that would help morale as well as nutrition in a WROL/disaster situation?
@tblbaby
@tblbaby 12 жыл бұрын
@Myrmecia It's a great nutritional choice, and not starving does wonders for moral. If someone is complaining that they want cheezy poofs while people around are having a hard time getting food, I'd recommend eating them for the protein & to shut them up ... good for moral ; )

+engineer775 Practical Preppers found out there is one manufacturer making a tool to reuse them there website doesnt have any info on this so i emailed them and received a brochure thought id share with you guys. at $1,400 it would be best to split the cost with a group or possibly reflange a bunch of #10 cans and then sell it. i unfortunately dont live close enough to a LDS so if i had to purchase #10 cans online and have them shipped there almost $3 a piece so id have to reflange 466 #10 cans to break even (assuming you can get the cans for free wich shouldnt be difficult for most as restarunts/pizzerias throw them out) www.geringandson.com/

@loganv0410 I've used Mormon facilities and they don't ask for anything except to buy supplies. I don't contribute to their church by going and paying so I leave a donation because they had to pay for that equipment & facilities. Networking, even with churches, works best if we give back if we can. hehehe, give back if we "can" I also give to the Salvation Army & shop. I personally "won't have any food" but I want a location people can go. Being a food source as a single household is dangerous
