Thank you. I just had one implant installed. I wonder why they didn't tell me how to care for it? I did pay lots of money for this proceedure. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. Angel from The Bay

My daily routine now: brush (electric), floss, scrape tongue, and finish with a water pic with the "Pick Poc" attachment. Highly recommended! It may sound excessive, but isn't. Implants are expensive and, more importantly, there are many other problems than can arise if they become infected. YOU do NOT want this! I've had my implants for 30 years and counting ---- way beyond the "expected shelf-life"!

With implants. I just mine. I'm 6 days post op. Did you ever feel pressure in your head after the surgery on the side of your implant?

Thank you for your tips, I’ve got implants and I used water flossing to clean properly everywhere, also I used some mouthwash inside the water flossed mixed with water. Thanx again, it was very helpful 😊

Proxabrush has pretty sharp tip, though my surgeon recommended it for fighting bacteria in one of my implants, I would not recommend it for daily use unless you have big gaps. Form my experience , hygiene is secondary to proper placement. dry mouth can also do a lot of harm, not proven but after taking benedril I got bacteria in one of my imlants. Also interesting topics is implants which can be unscrewed , I have one line that , but my current dentis said that it is hard to place crowns on them so he cuts them off.

Thank you for sharing your experience. TEPE makes various interproximal brushes that are safe and do a great job cleaning around implants. They also have implant-specific dental flosses which are recommended over conventional flosses.

NEVER USE THE FLOSS that goes around implant,it will shred and damage your implant seal that protects you from getting an infection, shredding will cause some of the particles be left around the implant and increase it's failure. Just invest in a waterflosser. I flossed like she showed, going around implant,1 year later it got so bad that the floss got stuck, turns out flossing around is bad because you have no protective barrier like a natural tooth would, you're literally risking breaking the implant seal and getting an infection/receding gums around your implant. Use regular pick floss and do it like with normal teeth to remove stuck food, also invest in water flosser that will remove deeper bacteria/plaque and stimulate the gums. Never use that shitty floss that she shows,it's literally shedding each time you floss. I don't know why half of doctors show that it's ok to use it to begin with, none of the implantation doctors recommend it because they see the damage it does daily, they have to take out the crowns and remove all the shreds, treat the damages. All they teach you after getting an implant is to just use regular floss lightly, brush twice a day and use mouthwash, that's plenty enough to not get plaque around implant.

Thank you for your comment. I absolutely agree with you. The possible residual floss fibers around implants (particularly if there are rough edges) is a big risk factor for peri-implant disease. We now advise patients to use a combination of interdental brushes, water jets, and implant-specific type flosses that do not shred. BIG THANKS for bringing this to everyone's attention.

@@kazemioralsurgery Can you use just a water pik or do you need to use both flossing and water pik? I just had my crown for my dental implant put in and my dentist said to use super floss or water pik.

@@fmih Both can be beneficial. It is also recommended to use implant-specific type of Floss. Check out tepe.com for their implant care kit.

What’s most important is keeping all these devices if not sterile, as free from pathogens as possible. Reminder, most dental hygiene is done in a dirty bathroom, near a toilet when flushed, aerosolizes bacteria & who knows…. Some worse particles from the flushing toilet.

Can I do implant with one dentist, after putting an implant fixture and waiting for several month to heal, then I go to another dentist for putting an abutment and crown ?

We recommend implant placement by a surgeon and restoration by a restorative dentist- working as a team.

Great video. Thanks. I have all-on-4 (5 posts actually) on the upper so the procedure at 1:57 won't work for me. I have the WaterPik and trying to figure out which tip to use. I 'spray upper gum between cheek (inner lip) and implant; hoping to have some water flush under the implant and flush whatever out the bottom at the roof of my mouth,. Hmmm gotta keep watching. ;-)

You may use interdental proxy brushes.

You might consider a small proxy brush. Best to ask you dentist for suggestion based on your specific circumstance.

I have a really tight spot on the top left side. Not flossing is part of what got me into implants in the first place. Looking at different devices/methods is what I'm currently doing. These implants are an investment, and I will do all that I can to care for them.

sorry but why you don't floss under the tooth with implant like they do on other videos?. I also can slide the floss under my tooth to reach the implant

@yearning4humbleness5984 жыл бұрын
@@nucleararmedhog you should clean under the tooth otherwise you will get infection and that is really bad, because many serious problems can then occur as a result of that in the future including loosing bone and the implant too
