No matter how many times I hear Home Free's version of this beautiful song it brings me to tears and leaves me breathless. They did Dire Straits proud. This is why we always tell reactors to wear headphones when listening to a cappella - and specifically Home Free. You don't know all the intricacies you're missing when you don't use them. Ginger, sometimes there just aren't any words after listening to a masterpiece like this and that's okay - we understand. Having said that, I think you're doing a fantastic job of relaying your thoughts. Most of all, we just want to share the experience of you hearing it. Great job! 🖤🍟

They know how to pack a punch in a new way. They just have a gift that way. It's hard to explain. I think they made the right choice when they had Tim and Chance take the leads, their voices fit the words and the "feelings" at the time in the song.

What’s striking about “Brothers In Arms” is just how much writer Mark Knopfler manages to convey in a minimum of words. With startling efficiency, he inhabits the soul of a wounded soldier who muses on his surroundings and waxes philosophical as his life ebbs out. It seems likely that Knopfler had the Falklands War, which took place in 1982 between the United Kingdom and Argentina, in mind when he wrote the song. But by keeping specifics out of the narrative, he makes the song a timeless treatise on the senselessness of war.

I have always been a fan of this song by Dire Straits but think Home Free did an excellent version of this song. Tim's natural breathy bass was awesome along with Chance's smooth baritone & loved it when all the guys were doing 5 part harmonies. Who would believe humming could sound so good. They gave it a very solemn feeling. I love that they don't overproduce their songs. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there.

Don't feel bad about running out of words to describe what HomeFree means to you when they sing. They do that to most of us. They can definitely sound angelic. That's why we get so emotionally attached to them. Plus, they are just good men. I haven't met them but i believe that. Plus, they seem so grounded and down to earth, like they could be a very good friend. It all feels authentic.

It’s hauntingly beautiful. One of my favorites of theirs and I agree with you if you don’t listen with headphones, you’re really missing out. I’ve seen a few people listen without headphones and it makes me sad/angry because they’re missing so much. Yes, it takes it out of you doesn’t it?! Dire Straits is beautiful but is guitar driven where this is voice driven. I love this one. Loved Tim’s lows, loved the echoes, loved the almost black & white look to the video. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. Great reaction Ginger!😪😊

Home Free always pays appropriate respect in their covers--especially to the content! Their talent is amazing--and I LOVE their 5-part harmony❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

No need to apologize for the emotion they evoke with their exceptional vocalization that makes you think instruments and insane harmonies are all happening at times you are not expecting or prepared to encounter as they bring the words alive in way you have never heard before. Their arrangements are sensationally good and they own the presentation in a new way that just wow you!!! They simply take a cover and make it new and make it better every time. The capability of excellence by each of the individuals in this group is off the charts awesome that allows them the flexibility to do so many types of vocalizations and to do it exceptionally well. I have not found a genre they are afraid to tackle whether individually or as a group they are amazing. Then top that off with their arrangements that augment the presentation to be "Home Free" owned. ❣ subscribed

This is so hauntingly beautiful. I was not familiar with the original and when I went to listen to it after hearing this version, I thought I had clicked on the wrong video because it is so different from this. This arrangement was made by the Danish group Club for Five and Tim asked if the boys could use it. The Club for Five version is also worth a listen. Different from this as it has mixed male and female voices and instrumentation, but also quite moving.

I actually quite enjoy seeing and hearing what everyone else feels about this song because it always differs so much from my own. It's an emotional song... I know that logically I should feel something more. But it just makes me relax so much, I can't. But that's just Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler in general. It's my dad's fault I've been a fan my entire life, really, since they were a go to when I was fussy as a baby. Calmed me right down, and at 29 it still does.

I defy any pipe organ to hit some of those basement notes that Tim made. Visually, the 3 tenors in the back, when the light from the window spears over each of their shoulders, for a second it looks like a cross to me. And when Tim and Chance are standing in front of the windows and you see the outline of the panes through them, it also looks like crosses....or the crosshairs of a rifle scope.

Tim going low bass is incredible. But when just Harmonies after Chance sings his first part get super strong bass that's Tim and Chance together doing bass to intensify it. Like the bombs going off at war is how I describe that part. And also the very end again they both do bass. Not at same levels Tim being lower then Chance but it just intensifies the sound.. suggestion for you to do. Adam Chance of Home Free featuring Hound and the Fox singing Wayfaring Stranger. You'll get to see Chance singing bass. And it's a great song they sing like folk type songs
