The musical quality and pure beauty of it were enough to make me cry the first time I heard it as well. For a Christian, it must be twice as emotional. I lost my sweet Moma, in 2020, COVID. I took care of her, and in her last days, this song was what helped keep her calm, as I was holding her close. She was beautiful, sassy, and so many people loved her. But, we couldn't have a funeral, a proper celebration, of her 90 years on earth, because, COVID. This was one of my mom’s favorite songs. The other was Schubert’s Ave Maria. On her deathbed, mom reminded me to have my sister sing How Great Thou Art and I was to sing Ave Maria. When mom spoke, we listened and fulfilled our promise to her. I still sing Ave Maria whenever I am asked for a wedding or a funeral or just because they like the song. But it will never be as sweet and powerful and deep from my heart as it was at mom’s funeral. I miss her every day of my life.

You don't have to apologize for crying. The very first time I ever heard Home Free was this exact song the day after my DSIL passed away. For me it was like Divine Intervention; I needed to let go. I had stood strong for many weeks for her family's sake while she was passing away. I came across this song the day after she passed; it helped me let all of those pent up emotions flow. I sobbed and I don't regret it. I could feel the stress flowing out of my soul. This and Amazing Grace are the only two songs that I absolutely can not sing. I get choked up and have tears in my eyes every time.

I saw this version for the first time today. We sang this at my Mom's funeral (she was a music teacher and there were over 100 former students that came back to sing) I had a similar reaction!😢😁😢☹️😀😅

This song and In The Garden will make my eyes wet every single time because they remind me of my grandma. She'd always hum or sing these while she was cooking. Hell, it still hits me like that, and I'm now 65 and she died in 1968... ☻☺

There’s absolutely NO reason to apologize. You’re here to react, and react you did, with words or not. And no matter how many times I’ve heard this song over the years, my own reaction to hearing Home Free’s version was spot on with your own. It filled up my heart and poured over. Some of it might have been the scenery they were in, but it was *how* they sang it. It wasn’t just any song to be sung. I don’t know exactly what was going through their heads but I can imagine they saw the landscape and probably felt God’s majesty all around them. And when they sang, they sang to Him. Watching the video or with eyes closed, you can *feel* the reverence and praise in their voices. It’s powerfully uplifting and your reaction was perfect.
