In reality, Home Free has 4 tenors, 2 basses, and 2 baritones. When Adam Rupp sings, he is a tenor. This song was written and recorded by a woman....and every one of the leads in this song sing it in HER key. Chance was a bass singer in the group he left to join HF.
@jasonwalker83242 жыл бұрын
They actually have 5 tenors, 3 baritones, 3 basses and 5 beat boxers. If u ever hear Rupp live, he can rattle ur chest with bass as well.

Chance is their baritone /bass, he doesn't go as low as Tim, but does a lot of background bass and does the bass when Tim is lead singing or like in this video, they needed 3 tenors and he was singing tenor range, (because he can do that too) so Chance showed off some of his bass here. Chance does have a nice lead voice also. He leads in Sea Shanty Medley, Born In The USA, I Can't Outrun You, Castle On The Hill, Dive Bar Saints, I'm Yours, Some Girls Do, Cover Me Up etc. Take your pick if you want to hear him sing lead.

You had the perfect reaction Home Fries look for when reacting to Mayday! Mayday was sung originally by Cam, a soprano, who sings country music. Her video was an Amelia Earnhardt-type scenario. HF sang this song in the same key as Cam, hence the need for high tenors. One of my favorite HF songs. Good reaction!

That’s why we like reactors to wait on Mayday as it’s the switcheroo. Tim singing up in the rafters and then Chance in the basement. Tim has a 5 octave range so he’s just showing you that range. Pretty remarkable. Chance was a bass in his first group but here is the baritone but will do bass when Tim sings high. Ok you know Tim. Rob (glasses) is a tenor. Austin (redhead) is the high tenor. Chance is the baritone and Adam is the beatboxer. If you want to hear more of Chance try Helplessly Hoping, I Can’t Outrun You, Yours. He has a great voice. Lots of bass in I Can’t Outrun You. Home Free can sing all genres of music not just country. Try Folsom Prison Blues, Blue Ain’t Your Color, Meant to Be to hear other jazz and pop. Good reaction Matt😃

This song is one of my favorites. We usually ask reactors to wait to react to this song till they are familiar with the individual members. Then they are surprised at hearing the switch ups in the voices. Tim who is known for his bass can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. The original song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original range.

This is probably one of my favourite Home Free covers. Tim and Chance show off their versatility, Austin and Rob show off their beautiful pure high tenor voices, and Adam absolutely kills it in the beatboxing! Even more impressive is that they're all singing this cover in the same key as the original, which is sung by a woman. Chance has a lovely voice, actually, and I'm glad he's getting more opportunities to do lead vocals now.

HF is remarkable!! One of the things with HF, PTX, Voiceplay and other acapella groups is that there is no covering of any mistakes. With the music that you hear from 90's till now, the instruments can take over the song. If you would like to hear just voices and no percussion, react to Helplessly Hoping and How Great Thou Art, Adam has his own since part singing. They are also appreciate USA. Peter actually competed in the same season of The Sing-Off as HF and VP. (He was with the acapella group On The Rocks.)

Left to right in this video, you've got Rob (tenor), Adam (beatboxer), Tim who you've got down, Chance (baritone for Home Free, bass for his former group Street Corner Symphony), and Austin, who was lead on When a Man Loves a Woman. Good options for Chance on lead include One Man Band, Some Girls Do, Think a Little Less (gets blocked, but released after disputing), and Workin' for a Living (Huey Lewis and the News cover, so the least country out of these options). There are plenty more options with him on lead, but those are my personal favorites. Since Chance joined in 2016, Home Free has been gifted serious flexibility on leads, since either Chance or Tim does a great job on the bass line when the other is on lead.

Besides Tim going up in his range and Chance going down in his, I think the underlying feeling of "different" in this arrangement is also that they are singing in a higher key than they normally do. They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️

There is one thing many people miss in "Mayday" and it's pretty cool. By now, you have probably noticed that Adam (the Beatboxer) tends to move a bit while doing his thing. If you watch him, he tends to emphasize what he does with movement. In this song, there is a section where it sounds as if they are clapping but no one is clapping in the video. Watch Adam. He gestures with his hand at the same time that we hear claps....HE is making the sound of claps! It is so well done that most people don't realize it. Took a few watches for me to notice it! Amazing!

Your reaction to the switch-up was why we told you to wait to watch this! And your reaction was fun to watch, as always. Loved the way your eyebrows shot up on Tim’s high run. This was originally done by Cam, a soprano, it is a pop song, and they sang this in the same key. It’s about being in a bad relationship that they can’t break out of. Tim tells people who want to learn from him how to extend their bass voice to work on their high notes and extend their higher voice. Austin (the guy above you) made particularly good use of his high range and extended his last notes to perfection. Adam Rupp (who did not, by his own admission, win any international beatboxing competitions because he’s never competed in one) did a fantastic job (as always) in driving the music and keeping the tempo. Rob is always fabulous. Chance was actually a bass in his last group. Tim has joked on stage that they were lucky when Chance joined them and not PXT. He does have a lot of solos, you’ve just not gotten to them (yet). Helplessly Hoping, Winter Song, One Man Band, Brothers in Arms (where you also get treated to Tim at his “bassist”) and Castle on the Hill are my recommendations. Want to go full-on country, I recommend Folsom Prison Blues, Hillbilly Bone, and Ain’t Goin Down Til the Sun Comes Up (a Garth Brooks cover only on Home Free’s FB page). Adam’s nomonica is off the rails! For a lighter, funnier side, try Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (written by Tim with a cameo by Avi Kaplan).

Acapella groups can often not find natural bass singers because it is a rare voice type. They still need that bass line though so many have a baritone who can sing down to bass range as their bass. Adam Chance played that role in Street Corner Symphony the group he competed in the SingOff with in Season 2 I believe. Chris Rupp used to be the baritone and backup bass singer before he left Homefree, the group he founded, and moved to Florida. He still sings.

Adam Chance was the bass for the A Capella group Street Corner....they were on the last season of The Sing Off....and I do believe they won it. The last season of The Sing Off was reduced to a two night special...because the ratings had tanked....sadly, people just had NO appreciation of just how difficult A Capella of this quality is to do. You have NO autotune or instruments to cover mistakes.... and being perfect is nearly impossible, but A Capella groups pull off perfection much of the time.
