Sea shanties were songs that sailors would sing back in the day to help the work and day go by easier. Wellerman was a sea shanty that became popular through Tic Tok during the pandemic. There are 5 more songs that Home Free has also added to this medley. Tm had the most fun during this video. He rented the entire Jack Sparrow costume and went over to his brother-in-law's house (I believe) because he had an old fishing boat and stood in it to video it. The song was pieced together by Chance. It was filmed during the pandemic, which is why the guys filmed it in pieces and put it together in studio. It does show some of the playfulness of the guys. Other songs that show off the group's silly side are "Champagne Tast on a Beer Budget" and "All About That Bass" just to name a couple. I have not heard a single Home Free song that I did not like, so you can pick almost any of their songs to react to. But one you have to try is their cover of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Helplessly Hoping". A fairly short song, but really shows off each of their singing talents.

Sea shanties didn't just help them work but to work in time. Hauling on time, together to achieve perfect efficiency and safety.
@Whistor Жыл бұрын
@@bradclifton5248 You are spot on. The rhythmic beat of a shanty coordinated effort, most specifically when heaving around on the anchor windlass (hauling up an anchor without power had to be a PAIN!) or mooring or sail lines. Only once in my career did I ever use this technique and that was when our small boat cradle lost its engine and we had to hand crank the boat back into position and I sang to my guys (and one gal) who had to lift it by pure strength. But it was more for morale than anything. Another example is the work songs of old prison crews, same need and result.

This was, well a medley of all the most popular sea shanty songs that spread on ticktok a couple years ago. Now, sea shanties are a whole genre in of themselves. A couple of those songs are literally ancient, Drunken Sailor was sung at least as far back as 1830. Sea shanties were sung by sailors when doing work that required people to work together in a rhythm. If they weren't catchy they didn't work so most of them are pretty fun.

Not only was Adam keeping the beat and doing the castanets, but he was doing the sound of the waves hitting the hull of the ship. I don't know where you ladies are located, but if you liked these sea shanties, you might enjoy going to a local Renaissance faire. They are usually set in the 1600's, but the performers and their costumes, the fun comedy and musical performers, the food, the atmosphere and the shopping... It's so much fun! There's always guaranteed to be pirates there, singing sea shanties, as well as funny pub songs. And guests are encouraged to dress the part too (you can usually rent costumes at faires if you don't have your own), so if you've ever wanted to be a wench, queen or a pirate, your dreams can come true!
