Written by Adam Chance. Ubisoft the video games company commissioned Home Free to write a sea shanty for their new game Skull and Bones after their Sea Shanty Medley went viral. It's featured in the game which has just been released. And of course Home Free are brilliant! They performed it live when I saw them on their European tour last autumn and it was wonderful.

It attracted Ubisoft (game maker) to Home Free and they asked Chance to write a shanty for their new game Skull and Bones. It’s great and I love it. They came out with a lyric video first and then a short live version for the Ubisoft crowd. They said they would come out with a video when the release of the game would come out so this is it. How about some more exposure to the magnificence of a Chance lead? I highly recommend “I Can’t Out You”- 5 part harmony, hauntingly beautiful, and Chance directed the video. “Cover Me Up”- and let it play out as there is a surprise. “Some Girls Do”, “Yours”. Then you need to check out his own channel “Adam Chance - Topic-“Far From Any Road “- Adam Rupp provides percussion and bass guitar, while Chance sings and plays acoustic and electric guitars, and there is a female guest who blends beautifully with Chance. From his Adam Chance channel-“Wayfaring Stranger” with the Hound and the Fox, “Song for Home”. Driver’s License “,”If Only I Could Fly”. “ The Man Who Can’t Forget”. I find that people don’t request Chance as much as Tim and Austin. I find Chance’s voice and delivery to be very warm and enveloping. He and Rob are my favorite leads. Oh, also with HF “Helplessly Hoping”- more exquisite 5 part harmony.

Fantastic video - who knew that those cleancut boys could turn into such villainous characters? But you might like to check out the first live version, when the song was unveiled for the commissioning company Ubisoft. To my mind there are sections here which are over-produced, with double tracking on the chorus (though it seems to have been pulled back a little - I wasn't the only one who didn't care for the "cast of thousands" sound). In the live version you can really hear the tenors pulling out all the stops on the chorus, and see Adam Chance taking command of the stage as he swings his guitar. You can also see Austin playing mandolin. I don't know if you're aware of Chance's solo work., but try Far from Any Road (a Handsome Family cover), with spooky noises courtesy of Adam Rupp. After a number of delays Chance's first album is expected to drop this year. I can hardly wait.

Chance had directed their earlier "Sea Shanty Medley" (which is available in a professionally produced live video) during their Covid separation. When Home Free released their "Sea Shanty Medley" during the lock down and it went viral, the game company Ubisoft saw it and was so impressed by them that they reached out to Home Free and asked if they would be interested in creating an original song for their game (which was in development) Skull and Bones. Of course they jumped on that and their one and only sea shanty enthusiast, Adam Chance stepped up and wrote this master piece. Ubisoft introduced them and their song at the Summer Game Fest along with the lyric video which is what we had until now. This video incorporates elements of the game into the story depicted in the video. Well worth the wait, love it and your love for and reaction to our boys. Looking forward to what they have next for us. I am content for now sitting at home and watching all the great reactions available on KZbin.
