Dave is great....clear instructions, nicely done video close-up work so you can see what he's doing and how to do it yourself, and brief. Now I'm going to try to do this on my own instead of replacing a lamp! Thank you!

Thank you! I have always wanted to know how to do this! My mom was taught how to do this in her home economics class back in the early 1940's, and that has always impressed me that the students were taught something useful back then. I have had a beautiful christal lamp that has needed a new cord for a long time. Now I can do it. Thanks AGAIN!

It is a good video but the people must know that you should connect the wire connected to the wide blade of the plug to the silver screw/connector of the socket and the wire connected to the slim blade of the plug to the brass screw/connector of the socket. Unless you like to get some 110 in the hand every time your change the bulb.
@danmccarthy2064 жыл бұрын
Polarity = The wire from the small blade on the plug (hot) goes to the brass screw on the socket (center conductor of the light socket) The larger blade on the plug (neutral) should be connected to the silver screw (outer part of the socket). The lamp will light even if you hook it up wrong...it will also increase the chance you get a shock if you change the bulb with the lamp turned on. Not a huge deal, but you should do it right.

Well if your dog does it again and dies, don't throw the dog away...because they're quite tasty...and you can get a few meals out of 'em, depending on the size.

Buying a new lamp would be cheaper than fixing it, but I don't want to buy another one! I want a single thing to be able to last :( Thanks for the simple video!
@pekerhed1012 жыл бұрын
Depends on the price of the lamp. The total cost of a 6ft lamp cord + single socket = about $5. I can't remember the last time I bought a lamp that cost less than $5.
